but could use some help. I am teaching at a wonderful new place, but it is NEW, so that makes it really difficult. I am trying to get some of my old students from the adult ed to join me in the new studio, and my FB friends and acquaintances to come out and I am having a really hard time for the first time getting students. I work full time so don't have lots of free time to 'market" my classes. I am beginning to wonder if it's just me and feeling really kinda bad about it, even though I have had many successful classes over the last two years. I have posted here and do a newsletter and FB invites. ANY marketing tips for me ladies? I sure could use them right now. I hate to give up teaching hoop as I love it so.

Hi Paula,

It seems that the times I have had the most action are when I do the least to get it, so go figure! What does seem to work is when someone contacts me or comes to me and they are wanting to do it with friends. Right away I have 2,3 or 4 students because of their connection to each other. Otherwise, it is like recruiting that many people individually. You also might try doing some workshops rather than people having to committ and sign up for a series class. Like an intro one for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or for the students you already have an intermediate one or a workshop working on specific skills like jumps and off body moves. Hope this gives you some ideas. Good luck. Maybe the studio can let you use their mailing list. Your need to have sources for getting the word out to new people as it is about constantly finding new people.
Thanks Kay...I am having a hard time getting people much past level one. I will probably give it till the end of the year but yeah...I agree that sometimes things just "happen". I am getting to the age though I don't want to try to swim upstream if you know what I mean. Don't feel bad for me though, as long as I hoop for my own benefit that's all that really matters.
How the heck are you anyway? Still in So. Cal?
