I was wondering, if anyone here teaches one-on-one sessions, how much you charge...?  I was approached by someone wanting private lessons, but I am unsure of how much to ask for!  We may be in her home, so let's just assume that I don't have to worry about renting a space.

Thanks!!

Think in the range of 2-3 times what you charge for a group lesson. It depends on the market, of course.

You might consider discounts if she is planning to do a series of lessons. Full price if it's just once in a while. Also, will you need to teach at a high level or prepare differently than you do for your regular lasses - does she have a concrete goal in mind like preparing for a performance or mastering a certain trick?

I attend group and private yoga lessons. My group lesson costs 2600 yen; private lessons are 7,000 yen. The private ones are hard work, but very rewarding and worth the money. Do not discount the appreciation of your private student to have all of your attention and her willingness to pay for it.

You should make the same amount for your time as you would in a group class.  The difference for the student is they need to make up the price of the missing ones.  Depending on where you live prices can range from $40-80+/hr.  Check out other similar dance/fitness styles and what they charge in your area.  As far as the location.  You don't have to pay overhead, but there is still your time/gas for transportation since you have to go to them.  How this would affect the price is up to you.

Good luck and congratulations!

Thanks to both of you, ladies!  You just basically validated what I was thinking, and gave me a few more thoughts to ponder.  I appreciate your input! :)
