Hello WildFire family,
First a simple thank you. Our spring retreat was such an amazingly powerful culmination of small choices made by 311 people to create a safe, learning, sharing and giving environment that will resonate with all of us long after June has passed. Again, thank you.

A 3rd Aug WildFire
Our famly/training retreat is about to embark on yet another growth and learning path, that I am both excited and nervous to now share with you. Given the huge demand/need/love for WildFire, the advisory board has given the green light to hold a 3rd WildFire event this year. The summary of the board discussions are after this email, but at a high level, “What, we are going to do an August WildFire too….. hell ya”

The dates for the two remaining WildFires’ are Aug 20-23 and Sept 24-27. Same location, same structure, mostly same everything, just doing a 3rd one.

Organizers Needed
Given this new growth, WildFire will need more people to step in as organizers. All organizer roles are kept to 10-12 hours of work, and we are getting really good about training and passing along all materials needed to do any role. If you are a semi organized person, and want to..”SQUIRL” < turns head and stares out window>…… o, and doesn’t get to easily distracted, please let us know that you are interested in helping as an organizer at one or both events. Being an organizer is a GREAT learning opportunity in a different but important area and an awesome way to give back to our family. New Website coming soon
We are having to make some important changes to the site to handle two events simultaneously. We are close to launching the updated site, but it will probably be after next weekend before it is live.

Ticket sales
The Aug retreat’s tickets will go on sale July 6th and 6pm eastern time
The Sept retreat’s tickets will go on sale July 20th at 6pm eastern time

Thanks board for your insightful help and ability to push ideas like this to an appropriate flushed out point. Below are the summarized notes from our discussions about having a Aug event.

Exec Summary
Yes, we will do an Aug 20-22 WildFire event, in the same format as all the WildFire’s done to date. This will be in addition to the Sept event. The website will have a new landing page that will all users to select either the Aug or Sept event.

Next Steps
1. Confirm with campground that we want the space
2. Discuss with organizers who will be able to do what events this fall (use google docs and have them confirm). Send email to everyone who has been an organizer before.
3. Set up website to handle two events
4. Announce to general public intentions, need for organizers, and event/ticket sale dates

Discussions
Different event focus - Prop centric or beginner oriented event, instead of standard WildFire event. All liked other ideas, but after discussion felt that there is a huge demand for WildFire, and did not see the need to reinvent anything at this time. It would also be easier on us both operationally and from a communications perspective.

Website – using two sub-domains this time and look at re-architecting the website over the winter to handle multiple events selling tickets and scheduling stuff simultaneously.

Organizers – it will definitely mean more turn over at the organizer level, but will also mean we have more people in the community trained as organizers that can help out in the future. We will also be forced to get even better at training / transitioning these roles to new people.

Costs concerns – feel we will be able to sell out or at least get close. So long as more than 225 tickets are sold (including organizers/need based/vendors/teachers), we should be fine.
