LOVE YOGA!!! As I'm sure many of you in this group do as well. Yoga has been a huge part of my life and has taught me so much! In any event, I was wondering if anyone has done a teacher training. I was just looking to hear a little bit about your experiences. I've always really enjoyed the idea of going to yoga school, and as time goes by I keep feeling as though I should do this. So yes please share your experiences I'd love to hear about it!

my husband is in Anusara teacher training now, its amazing, he loves it
I have been looking into yoga teacher training for some time. I have taken the CircusYoga and YogaKids training. none of it is Yoga Alliance certified but certainly very interesting if you want to work with children or be a little more creative. Mostly it depends on what type of yoga you do (hatha, ashtanga, Bikram, mokska) and where you live. lots of studios do 8/10/12 month training where you go for a weekend of workshops once a month. I am looking at doing summer intensive rather than drawing it out over a year or more. hope that helps. keep breathing. happy hooping.
I'm in teacher training right now and I love it.
I did a five week intensive right after doing hoop mentor training. Kripalu-style in beautiful St. Augustine, Florida. Deva is the teacher there and she's been doing it for a very long time. This lady knows her yoga and she's real and down to earth. Kripalu means compassion, and although it is mainly hatha focused, it definitely touches on all the 8 limbs of yoga. Plus, I got to hoop in the studio whenever I wanted :) I highly recommend it, if you want to know more, get @ me

I did a three year British Wheel of Yoga teacher training course which was hard work but completely worth it. I guess you are in the US, and I'm not sure what the equivalent to my course is there, but I would recommend taking an in-depth course over a longer time period. There are so many aspects to learn and absorb, and although I have no direct experience of them, I am wary of these 'learn to teach yoga in a month' courses. I'm not sure how you can fit all the philosophy, anatomy and physiology, adjusting etc etc into a month....
I took a 6 month 200hour (basic) training it was so amazing that I continued straight into the 6 month 500hour (adv) training, which I'm finishing up next month. I definitely suggest taking a longer course so that you can really take the journey and let things absorb into your body, mind and spirit. A shorter course is good if your goal is to learn some basics and get certified so you can start teaching right away. But if you are doing it for yourself, then definitely take the time. There is so much to learn, we never stop learning really, and the journey is more than learning cues and alignment (although very important!), but also life philosophy and an understanding of the world, our bodies and YOU. My journey has been both of knowledge and of healing (physically and emotionally). <3 It's been a big step in preparing me not only to teach, but to live the rest of my life.

There are many different schools of yoga and styles of teaching. Make sure to shop around and find what is best for you. :-)
I took a 500 hour/ 6 month training at Centered City Yoga, SLC UT. Best decision I ever made. Make Sure your school is Yoga Alliance Certified though :) Other wise save some $ and do a killer retreat.

I'm looking to get my yoga teacher training as well. I'm particularly interested in kundalini and anusara but I might take my ashtanga yoga teacher training in an ashram in Catskills this July.

My sister took her training in moksha and in ashtanga and she loved it. She said it was a truly life changing experience and that you lay your soul bare and share such a unique experience with a group of people and create such a community. I feel like doing yoga teacher training can really help somebody find themselves.

I hope that you get your training!

Thank you, and I hope you enjoy your yoga training as well. :) I was actually thinking of going to a place called Tribe which has a few certification programs abroad (I was specifically looking at the one in Goa India) I think it's actually an ashtanga training program, the aim is next January. :) What was the name of the place you were looking into going to?
