"Yeah, the wind can be a tricky one. Think is right, using more vigour will help out a lot.  Also when going any throws you may want to consider which way the wind is going and compensate. Also be ready to run and grab it wherever it ends up!"

"If the wind is steady, you can compensate for its pressure by hooping with more vigor. Turning yourself to face into or perpendicular to the wind depending on the tricks you are doing can help keep things in control, too. Gusty wind is a lot harder…"

Hooping in the Wind?

Hi Hoopers!I'm used to hooping inside, but am challenging myself to get out and hoop more (especially as I have a couple of summer festivals and then burning man this year, and I would be hella sad to miss hooping at them!). I brought my fold up hoop to my office and have been hooping at a small waterfront park across the street, but holy crap, y'all, the wind is killing me! It feels like I have no connection to my hoop, like it's floating, and I can barely maintain hip hooping, which is my…See More

Hoops hoops everywhere!

I've been light on hoop practice the past week, for various reasons, but tonight I buckled down and... MADE HOOPS! I'm using 100psi, 3/4" polyethylene. I made one megahoop by measuring to just below my breasts and cutting the tubing there, and one 42"er that's got two joins and hopefully will allow me to twist and fold it down for transport. 42" (1" diameter) is what I've been working with, though my first hoop is heavier.I tried the mega-hoop (It's about 47") and it was so nice, even untaped!…See More

Practice Notes

[ I wonder if I should do one entry a week and add notes as comments. Thoughts? ]Today I hooped for a bit while waiting on my landlady to visit. I had my blues dance playlist on and, since I was so discouraged yesterday, just let myself dance with my hoop. I got some good waist hooping in, as well as some off-body hand hooping (I can't wait for my new hoop materials to come in; my hoop is way too hard on my hands). And, finally, for the first time, I was able to do neck hooping without either…See More

It's been several days since I hooped. I got access to the Seeding classes last Wednesday, but only was just able to watch the first video. Waist Hooping. The most basic.

I've been playing with my hoop at home for a couple of years. I love the flow of it, and have no problem transitioning from core hooping to off-body hooping and isolations etc.

Apparently what I have problems with is the core hooping. I know I'm out of practice, and I know I'm coming off of an injury, but it's…

Just grabbed a few minutes of basic waist-hooping practice since I'm on my way to a movie in the city tonight! Still, proud of myself for getting even a few minutes in.
