little hoop quizzy
How old are you? 20!!! 21 in August :)
When did you first start hooping? Around late Febuary of 2010, so not too long now. I have prgressed very well in a such a small amount of time surprisingly.
Would you call yourself a beginner, intermediate or advanced hooper? Little above beginner I'd say. Like, almost intermediate.
How often do you hoop? Well, I was everyday for a while..then got bored with it,as I
do with mpst things in life. I think I was feeling a little discouraged and didn't want to admit it though. Recently though, I've started up again everyday. It's just too much fun to forget about. I actually feel like it's something Id want to do with my life, I'd like to et real advanced and entertain with it. I've never felt this way about any other hobby ever, other than singing, but that would be a little harder to come by. Oh, and especially being a stay at home mom..uhh I have aloot of free time!!
Do you have an indoor hoop space? We live in an apartment, and I have had to move the dining room table against the wall and stack the chairs up. I have juuust enough room, I'd like more, like I kinda have to be careful. Theres some scuff marks on the wall and on my hoops.. :(
Is there a hoop group where you live? I wish...
Did you start it? N/A
Would you say that you are obsessed with or addicted to hooping? How can one not be once they start? Lol, it is just too much fun. My friends down in Texas are all obsessed too. haha.
Have you posted hooping videos? How many? I have two posted on youtube. I'm not very proud of them though. I posted them to show my friends the progress I've made so far cus they were curious.
Do you have friends nearby to hoop with? Once again, I wish.
Do you teach hooping? When I get better, I would love to.
What kind of songs do you listen to while hooping? Infected Mushroom, KMFDM, Lady Gaga, Covenant, Pendulum, Basshunter, shtuff like dat yo.
What is your favorite song right now? Dance in the Dark by Lady Gaga, OH! and Granite by Pendulum. Definitely. Oh, and Smashing the Opponent by Infected Mushroom, feat. Jonathan Davis
Do you buy hoops or make your own? I buy them off of YourHoop.com
Have you lost weight since starting to hoop? You my stomach always looks way flatter after a few days of hooping. My husband says this is the best he's seen me look.
What size is your favorite hoop? 3/4 inch 37" diameter, just the perfect size, my 42 inch is kinda heavy and too big, but still practical. I have a 1/2 inch one that 33" that I love as well. Little harder to vertical chest hoop with that one though is the only thing.
Are you comfortable hooping by yourself in a public place? Public places are fun because you can actually share what you have learned so far, and I'm a person who loves to entertain. But then again, sometimes I feel real insecure about it, so I'll prefer by myself sometimes. Sometimes around people I get nervous and mess up more.
How did you learn the majority of the tricks you know today? Alot of youtube tutorials, and just a result of lonliness and motivation lol I feel so uncreative at times, but I'm working on that.
Who is your favorite hoop teacher? I ABSOLUTELY love how graceful Safire is, and she is great with teaching. She is by far the most thourough I've seen when she teaches it. A lady named Caroleeena on youtube is very well at demonstration and being clear and concise as well. My favorite hoopers that I've seen on youtube though, are SaFire, a chick named Brecken (wow, she is unbelievable) she used alot of isolations in her style, and the other is babzrobinson, shes awesome as well.
Do you firehoop? No, I'd liek to try it though, I just dont see how you''d not burn yoru hands, body and hair off?
What advice would you give to beginners? Remember to be as creative as you can be, and don't hate yourself if you can't learn somehing right off the bat.
How much time do you spend on Hoop City Hooping Community? Just goot here, so don't know yet lol.
What was the first trick you learned (besides waist hooping)? When I lifted it up with my left hand, and brought it back down. Felt very nice, I was so excited! lol. Between that and learning how to bring it up to my neck.
What is the last trick you mastered? Isolations finally! Barrel roll with the vertical chest hooping also. And well, I just learned the elbow switch finally too, havent mastered it yet. I'm working on learning the chest roll now, cus i got the back roll down. Also trying to learn how to do a foot to chest carry, vertical knee hooping, and switching from my left shoulder to my other shoulder....
What trick so far was the hardest for you to learn? Foot hooping...yea lol and chest I guess.
Which one are you finding is almost impossible to get? Hmm, switching shoulders, and the vertical knee hooping..Oh!!!! AND, when you hoop around one leg and put your other foot down and pinch them between your legs and reverse it over and over. Hooping around one leg is the easy part, or putting it back in, but not placing the foot out of the hoop and being able to keep it off the ground.
How many hoopers would you say live in your town/city? Psh, none.
Have you performed hooping in front of an audience? That would be fun, but noo
Has anyone told you you were too old to be playing with a hula hoop? Nope lol.
What’s the worst injury you’ve acquired from the hoop? Hitting my face. Ooh and hitting my ankle or foot alot ow. And today I was trying to catch it and somehow scratched the crap out of the botton of my nostril. Thats been bugging me.
Have you ever hooped naked? Why yes I have a few times lol. Just did the other night, and my husband says I should more often lol. But it tends to hurt my nipples, cus theyre peirced. Or the hoop tends to feel coldaround my bofy. But once I get going, I get hot, so it feels awesome to do it.
Have you been to a hoop camp/retreat? Which one? Nope, never even heard of one?
