About me

Hey everyone :) I'm now officially a Hoopnotica certified instructor and have been teaching hooping since May 2009. I'm also a Yoga instructor as well as a Personal Trainer ( I teach Pilates Mat, Cardio-Kickboxing and several other fitness classes as well. I love my job and always try to find new ways to make fitness fun.

I just recently started performing with my friend Veronica Vixen in our group, Frisky a Go-Go - we dance and hoop for bands or anywhere we can!

I started hooping on 1-19-09 and it's been a wonderful and wild ride so far - I can't wait to see where else the hoop will take me!
My other hobbies/interests include doll collecting, snowboarding, photography, music, dance, art, trying new things and just enjoying life.

p.s. if you live in my area, check out my new hoop Meetup group:

Lots of hooping this week!

Posted on February 6, 2010 at 9:00pm 3 Comments

Okay, so Thursday was the first day of my 8-week hoopdance/workout class through our adult-ed program. There were 27 brand new hoopers there and it was wild! We had an entire gym at the middle school to play in. It was a challenge because I had to keep running back and forth across the gym to help people learn tricks. But I was able to cover waist and hip hooping, vertical and horizontal arm hooping, kicking over the hoop as it goes around the body, bringing the hoop back on the body,…

One Year Hooping Anniversary!

Posted on January 19, 2010 at 2:49pm 2 Comments

Wow, today is my one-year hooping anniversary! I can't believe how much the hoop has enriched and changed my life. I have been able to share my love of hooping with so many people including family, friends and personal training clients. In the past year I have met awesome and talented hoopers, attended workshops and even held several of my own beginner hooping workshops at my local gym. I've hooped with kids, adults, seniors, guys - you name it - my motto is, "I can teach anyone to hoop - don't…

Hooping News

Okay, so I really need to update this! Back in June, went to WildFire 'fire arts' camp - four days of fun with hoops, awesome people and camping. It was all around a great experience. I took classes in poi hooping, knee hooping, hoop tossing, traditional staff, and aerials. Every night there was a free spin with awesome dj's - I didn't try any fire hooping yet, but hopefully one day soon. I had fun on the sidelines with my LED though :)

Since then, I have been preparing to teach two…

Wow, that was fun!

So I'm back from my first official Hoop class and it was awesome! Six people showed up and they were all able to get the hoop going in the first 5 minutes. We went over hooping in both directions, the 'switcharoo' (hitting the hoop as it comes around to change directions - got that name from Miss Saturn), hooping on the hips, basic halo and arm hooping, putting both arms in while hooping, a little knee hooping and lots of foot work with the hoop. Everyone did really well and I think I may have…

My First Hoop Class (I'm teaching!)

Posted on May 14, 2009 at 12:57pm 2 Comments

Today I'm teaching a beginner hoop fitness class at the gym where I work. I am sooo excited! I'm going to mix in a little yoga and pilates and hope to teach a few people the basics while having a lot of fun! I will update how my first class went soon. I can't believe this is already happening - I've only been hooping for 5 months!

Good day,
How is everything with you, I picked interest on you after going through your short profile and deemed it necessary to write you immediately. I have something very important to disclose to you, but I found it difficult to express myself here, since it's a public site. Could you please get back to me on my private email( for the full details?
Have a nice day and God bless you,

Hi Amy, thanks for the message!
I've been hooping just over a year now, and yes, I progressed fairly fast - but that has a story. So. . .STORY TIME!

The first time I saw hooping was live, when SaFire came to my school. After reviewing my rhythmic gymnastics skills (with a rhythmic gymnastics hoop which is basically a really light, really thin, really small hoop) I tracked SaFire down and bought a REAL hoop off of her. I tried it out, and it was way easier than my gymnastics hoop, so my confidence was REALLY high. She took a video. . . I watched it. . . I was horrible! So, I started working really hard, practicing all the time and taking video all the time, so I could see what I was doing wrong and figure out how to fix it. Within four months, I was performing and within seven/eight I was performing professionally.

I think the only reason I progressed so fast was just because I had such strong DRIVE to get better. I still have that drive, just now that I've found my style in the hoop, it's a little more laid back ;) Practice is the key. At one point last January I was practising up to five hours a day. Right now, I'm lucky if I get four hours a week in between shows and exams at school, but I try my best to make it a priority.

I hope that actually answers your question!
