"Yes, supposedly how it works is there will be a setting that will make them flash to the beat of the music, and one that will make them glow brighter when raised, and dimmer when lowered."

Profile Information

Do you teach hoop classes? *Please only answer 'yes' if you teach classes on a regular basis.
No
Do you have a website or YouTube, Facebook or Myspace.
http://colorplay.org/blarg
What year did you start hooping? (e.g. 2003)
2010
What is your goal for 2014 and why is it important? (Doesn't have to be hoop related.)
To be better. Better than I currently am at everything I'm trying to accomplish. Life, hooping, everything. Not expecting perfection, only improvement.
Homestay - Click yes if you would consider sharing accommodations with Hoop City Citizens visiting your hometown.
Yes

Questionnaire! - Last update: 4/27/10

How old are you?
24

When did you first start hooping?
April 2010

Would you call yourself a beginner, intermediate or advanced hooper?
Total newb!

How often do you hoop?
Every day, at least 1 hour.

Do you have an indoor hoop space?
Yes, my art studio in the basement.

Is there a hoop group where you live?
I don't know... there are hoopers, but I haven't met them yet.

Did you start it?
N/A

Would you say that you are obsessed with or addicted to hooping?
Both!

Have you posted hooping videos? How many?
Posted, not yet. But I take videos obsessively to study and improve.

Do you have friends nearby to hoop with?
Not really :(

Do you teach hooping? If so, how many people have you taught?
No, but I would love to share the art with others when I improve.

What kind of songs do you listen to while hooping?
Anything my Beats Antique and happy hardcore techno Pandora channels regurgitate.

What is your favorite song right now?
Ravers Fantasy

Do you buy hoops or make your own?
Both! I am an arts & crafts junkie. I bought my first LED and practice hoops, and then started making my own with different materials for "taping".

Have you lost weight since starting to hoop?
I don't think I've hooped long enough to do so... Weight isn't a concern, however. Inches and muscle definition are more important to me.

What size is your favorite hoop?
41" or 42" but I'm sure it will change when I have more experience.

Are you comfortable hooping by yourself in a public place?
Definitely. I usually practice on campus, because I feel spending my hour dinner break on hooping has been more beneficial than I can say. And there's always a lot of foot traffic on campus.

How did you learn the majority of the tricks you know today?
Youtube, studying, thinking too much. I analyze everything.

Who is your favorite hoop teacher?
Chemigal, seer5, Safire

What advice would you give to to beginner hoopers?
Keep an open mind, and don't get frustrated.

Do you fire hoop? If not, do you want to?
No, and most definitely yes!

Do own an LED hoop? Where did you get it?
Yes, a 7-color LED rainbow hoop made by Trick Concepts

How much time do you spend on Hoop City Hooping Community?
I just joined, but this place is bloody awesome. I suspect I'll live here.

What was the first trick you learned (besides waist hooping)?
How to start a booty bump was the easiest non-waist hooping for me, but the vortex followed soon after and has more muscle memory associated.

What is the last trick you mastered?
I'm too newb to master anything. :(

What trick so far was the hardest for you to learn?
The Vortex

Which one are you finding is almost impossible to get?
Knee hooping! So far I can only try several times before the bruising starts and puts me out of commission on that area for a few days.

How many hoopers would you say live in your town/city?
Apparently there's a lot. Eventually I hope to meet them!

Have you performed hooping in front of an audience?
Only if you count passers-by on campus to be an "audience". It certainly wasn't a performance, though. Hah.

Has anyone told you you were too old to be playing with a hula hoop?
Not yet. But how many children light theirs on fire? (Or, in my case, WANT to!)

What’s the worst injury you’ve acquired from the hoop?
Nasty 7-inch bruising, but that's not too bad. I'm sure I'll probably break something when I get into jumping through the hoop and all.

Have you ever hooped naked?
Oh. I love this question. That's awesome. And, yes!

Have you been to a hoop camp/retreat? Which one?
No, my job makes doing pretty much anything a difficulty. :( But I can't wait for an opportunity to attend one.
