Hooping Questionnaire!
How old are you?
23
When did you first start hooping?
I started in 2009, but I didn't get too far thanks to defeat. I started back up again last week...I'm going all the way this time.
Would you call yourself a beginner, intermediate or advanced hooper?
Definitely a beginner.
How often do you hoop?
Everyday for abou 45 minutes or so.
Do you have an indoor hoop space?
Yeah, but I can't do much off the body work in it.
Is there a hoop group where you live?
There is one about an hour away in Arlington, I'm considering taking classes with them to meet new people.
Did you start it?
Nope.
Would you say that you are obsessed with or addicted to hooping?
Yes, definitely! It's wonderful.
Have you posted hooping videos? How many?
Not yet, I want to be able to do more moves before I do.
Do you have friends nearby to hoop with?
No, I tried to get a friend into it, but...she hates bruising, lol. Hopefully I'll meet some people on here.
Do you teach hooping? If so, how many people have you taught?
Nope.
What kind of songs do you listen to while hooping?
"Chill" music: Nightmares on Wax, Boards of Canada, Blockhead, etc.
What is your favorite song right now?
I have three:
1) Blockhead - Carnivores Unite
2) Nightmares on Wax - Capumcap
3) Burial Tet - Moth
Do you buy hoops or make your own?
I only have one right now and I bought it from Hoopnotica.
Have you lost weight since starting to hoop?
It's too soon to tell, but I can only imagine I will.
What size is your favorite hoop?
I have a 43" hoop and I feel that it is too big; I'm pretty short. I'm going to purchase a slightly smaller one next time.
Are you comfortable hooping by yourself in a public place?
Not yet, but once I had more moves to my repertoire, definitely.
How did you learn the majority of the tricks you know today?
Through the Hoopnotica 1 DVD and various YouTube videos.
Who is your favorite hoop teacher?
I like the way SaFire explains things and shows you, in detail, how to do the moves, she's definitely top notch. There is a british girl on YouTube (I
forget her name) that I also like.
What advice would you give to to beginner hoopers?
Work through the pain and bruises and never give up!
Do you fire hoop? If not, do you want to?
Definitely in the distant future, haha.
Do own an LED hoop? Where did you get it?
Nope. That's my gift to myself when I master most/all of the moves. (Those things are EXPENSIVE! lol)
How much time do you spend on Hoop City Hooping Community?
Since yesterday, a lot.
What was the first trick you learned (besides waist hooping)?
Vortex, so beautiful!
What is the last trick you mastered?
Waist reversals and hooping both ways.
What trick so far was the hardest for you to learn?
Chest Hooping. I've got it down pretty well at this point, but I think it's hitting in the wrong places and it sort of shakes and then it falls. I can
do it pretty well when I spin, though; I can even get my arms in and out and
chest hoop without my arms...arms in is tricky.
Which one are you finding is almost impossible to get?
Knee Hooping! Oww.
How many hoopers would you say live in your town/city?
From this site I know there are 4, including me.
Have you performed hooping in front of an audience?
Just my boyfriend.
Has anyone told you you were too old to be playing with a hula hoop?
No and I hope that never happens. Maybe those people should get in a hoop sometime. =)
What’s the worst injury you’ve acquired from the hoop?
The left side of my left knee is solid black and blue from trying to knee hoop.
Have you ever hooped naked?
Always, actually. It helps the learning.
Have you been to a hoop camp/retreat? Which one?
No, but I would do anything to go to one!

Hi! I live in Point of Rocks and am an avid hooper. Certified and Licensed too! I would suggest that you join my company's FB page (Rock-a-hoola Hoops) as I post various Hooping events that are going on around the Frederick, MD area. Since you live locally, I thought you'd be interested!
In fact, there is a Hoop Workshop happening tonight at the Frederick Cultural Arts Center (15 N. Patrick Street, Frederick) from 7P - 9P. Maybe you can come!
Hope to meet you one of these days!
