"Oh boy... how to say this concisely.... PSI MEANS ALMOST NOTHING!!! PSI is a measurement against radial ripping and cracking.  It doesn't necessarily relate to stiffness, maximum curve, wall thickness (directly), or anything else directly…"

"Sounds like you need to downsize the diameter of your hoops not so much the psi or tubing type. As you get more experience with hooping it's natural to decrease both psi and diameter."

My favorite hoop has been a 38" diameter, 3/4" 160psi HDPE.  I recently made one exactly the same but with 100 psi instead.  I've hooped with it a few times now and it feels cluncky to hoop with, especially chest hooping.  My 2 smallest hoops are a 36" 3/4" 160psi and a 35" 3/4 PEX.  I don't have the cluncky problem with either one.  I'm wonering if I should decrease the diameter with the decreased psi, or if I just need to get used to it and play with it some more?  I'm 5'9" and an…See More
