Larger, heavy hoops.

I'm playing with a 45" and a 40" at the moment, and I find that I much rather love the feeling of a larger, heavier hoop. But, I'm worried about transitioning into smallers hoops. If I got a smaller…

Whether it be by randomly picking up a hoop, or having it introduced by a friend, how did you get into hooping? For me, it was all by chance. A group of friends and I met up one night, just to hang…

New To The Hoop.

Hi, I'm new to hooping. I have a larger hoop, reaching up to my ribcage. In what ways should I ready myself for a smaller hoop? Any pointers or tips? Any help is appreciated.

"Lighter hoops don't feel the same, but thats what makes them great for moving them quickly around and off the body. You have to move more quickly to keep lighter hoops up, which make them a different kind of work out. 36 inch 3/4 OD hoops are a…"

"I have to add that I just made a 36 inch hoop from 160 psi tubing and I love it. It's so much fun to play with, and since it's smaller diameter I can do off-body stuff and the weight is getting my arms ripped. On-body hooping goes faster,…"

"This I can help you with!  I started out with a 50" hoop and i enjoyed the weight and size, but it became limiting when it came to dancing and tricks.  It was hard to adjust to a smaller hoop but I've just been making my hoops 3…"

"it probably depends on the type of tubing too. If you had a thicker, heavier tubing (like 120psi irrigation tubing) that was like 3/4" or something that you taped and tried at like 38" or 36" it will have that heavy feel but go…"

If I got a smaller hoop, but, have it weighted, do you think it'll have that same "heavy feeling" a larger one has?See More

"I did not even realize that such a thing like hooping existed until I went to Shambhala. I was so inspired by all the hoop goddesses there I had to look up how it was done when I got home. Youtube videos have been such a big inspiration too."

What was your inspiration?

Whether it be by randomly picking up a hoop, or having it introduced by a friend, how did you get into hooping? For me, it was all by chance. A group of friends and I met up one night, just to hang out. One of my girlfriends brought two hoops with her. This was a couple months ago, and it was the first time I picked up a hoop since childhood. I had totally forgot about them! Watching my friend hoop was amazing. The flow of it is what really caught me. I believe everything in life has a flow.…See More

"Thanks to everyone! I stand at about 5'4", so, sometimes I feel my hoop is too big for some tricks. I'll definitely be looking all of these up and practicing!"
