I think it was Hoopalicious who said to hoop whatever way feels right for you; you can be a 'body rocker' or master all those amazing off body moves and isolations. Just do what's best for yourself. I'm paraphrasing, of course, but I was thinking on that today.



Looking back on the beginning of my hoop journey, I realize I often failed to take the time to really appreciate things I was learning. I would feel that great surge of pride when I learned something new, but would quickly set…  

I was going to post this on Facebook, but since no one there will understand, and all of you will......!

 

I nailed the 3 beat weave!!

 

Months later, after picking up learning poi and dropping my minis progress for awhile, my muscle memory finally clicked.  This has been the most frustrating thing I have learned so far, and it got me very discouraged for quite some time.

 

I danced around my room with my minis and yelled for joy!…

 

Today I tried something a bit different.



I woke up to the most beautiful, mystical morning. The air felt crisp and smelled of autumn and the sky was clear. I stuck my head out the window like a little kid, excited to see if it would be nice enough for me to hoop outside on my day off of work. It was. I was elated.



I have been having a bit of trouble with my lower back, just aches and dull pain since I began to hoop two months ago. I decided it was my lack of stretching, so…  

This is the first time in hooping where my frustration is simply overwhelming me. I probably just need some hoop love and encouragement.



Today is my 'Saturday,' the beginning of two days off of work... which I planned on devoting to mastering some new tricks and beginning my practice with minis for the first time. I will never say I 'can't' do something or that I am 'incapable' of learning it, because I know in a month or two I will look back and laugh at how down on myself I was.…
