On Dec 20th my belly dancing group is having our christmas hafla, which for our group is more of a christmas performance, not my normal idea of a hafla, but this is the way they do things here.I asked my instructor if my hooping class could do a performance there as well. On Dec 20th my belly dancing group is having our christmas hafla, which for our group is more of a christmas performance, not my normal idea of a hafla, but this is the way they do things here.

right now i can feel every muscle in my back. i know i am going to be insanely sore tomorrow. this is my first week of summer 2010, and so far the journey has begin with a connection between the mind and body. this morning begin with dancer strength training, and working on some east coast tribal choreo. concentrating on isolating my movements to make them crisp and fluid in my flow. by the time i was done i went to work and felt accomplished for the day. i could have stopped there, but the…

 

3 months in the circle

Well, it's been three months of being in the circle. I now own two hoops. I want more. I now bruise less, which means that what i'm practicing I am getting in the flow of. Which also means I need to start practicing new tricks, maybe. I'm kinda thinking that the tricks that I know how to do now I should perfect. Get the flow just right.

As for the healthy living part of hooping, well for one I don't believe that my abdomen has ever had this much muscle. I am amazed at my self. My daughter…

I was just thinking that 2009 has turned out to be the year of the dance for me. I started belly dancing in July, started hooping in November. I'm trying to think back to last year at this time, what was I doing? I don't really remember. I know I was working on SCA (SCA.org) stuff...but other than that I don't remember what was most important to me. This year all I want to do is dance in one form or another. I don't wanta wash my dishes, don't wanta wash my clothes, don't want clean up…

Thank you for your comment! I've been interested in hooping for just over 2 years now, so I figured it was time to cave in to my interests and just go for it (I tend to mull over stuff a long time before I start - it took me 8 years to start belly dancing, but mostly because I was starting my family and lacked the time!). I'm working on getting better belly dancing - and you're right, hooping does seem to take time away from BD practice. LOL. I am hoping it will help improve my muscles and isolations more. If you're ever out in California, hit me up. Especially if you come out for Tribal Fest in Sebastopol. I go every year - it's amazing!
