Hooping Survey

When did you first start hooping? Well I got my first hoop this last summer from one of my son’s friends and didn't really start actually doing anything with it till October '09, so I am just starting.

How often do you hoop? I am now hooping every day for at least an hour minimum

How many hoops do you own? I have 2 now but am excited to buy a travel hoop. My husband and I travel a lot and a bunch of it is on a motorcycle.

Do you have an indoor hoop space? I have a small spot in my living room once I move a few items

Where is your favorite place to hoop? Everywhere I go, LOVE hooping barefoot in the grass

Is there a hoop group where you live? No sadly, but I am pretty close to Denver

Would you say that you are obsessed with or addicted to hooping? Very much so!! My husband thinks I've gone hoop crazy :-)

Have you posted hooping videos? How many? No not yet

Do you have friends nearby to hoop with? No :-(

Do you teach hooping? If so, how many people have you taught? No

What kind of songs do you listen to while hooping? Bassnectar, Widespread Panic, Galactic, Led Zeppelin, Pretty Lights, A Perfect Circle etc. whatever is on my iPod

What is your favorite song to hoop to right now? Cozza Frenzy by Bassnectar

Have you lost weight since starting to hoop? Well as I said I have only been actively hooping for a few months, and I am also doing weight training, wall climbing, and swimming 5-6 days a week, so I have lost a few pounds.

Are you comfortable hooping by yourself in a public place? I’m okay with it, I am just starting so I am a bit self-conscious still.

Who has been the most inspirational hooper(s) to you? I am watching tutorials and think Caroleeena and Safire are GREAT, but everyone has there own style!

Have you inspired anyone else to start hooping? Got my hubby picking it up from time to time to help him re-adjust his hips

What advice would you give to beginner hoopers? practice, Practice, PRACTICE. Don't give up! One day it will just click, and just deal with the dumps bruises and aches.

Have you damaged or broken anything from hooping? I hit my nose and gave myself pretty little bruises and bump. lol

Do you fire hoop? If not, do you want to? Once I get better, YES.

Do own an LED hoop? Where did you get it? Not yet

What was the first trick you learned (besides waist hooping)? Neck hooping while bringing my arms in and out

What is the last trick you mastered? Chest hooping

What is your favorite trick? Still learning

What trick would you like to master next? All of them! Not sure which I will be trying next I am still practicing what I learned

Have you performed hooping in front of an audience? Just my hubby and whoever happens to drive by or look out there windows. I'm mostly indoors due to snow.

Has anyone told you were too old to be playing with a hula hoop? Not yet but I can feel them thinking it when I mention I'm doing it.

What’s the worst injury you’ve acquired from the hoop? Bruising the bridge of my nose

Have you ever hooped naked? Yes, my hubby loves it!

Where is the farthest you've traveled with your hoop? To Denver every time I go, my mom-in-law thinks I'm funny

Have you been to a hoop camp/retreat? Not yet

Well I have been becoming more and more frustrated with my hooping and I'm now realizing it is because of my hoops! You see I have not been able to find my happy medium. My first hoop which I still really love, although I seem to have out grown it, and it is just to heavy to do much off the body stuff; It started at 44" X 1", PSI is unknown. This hoop has since be cut down twice as I have gotten better, to make it smaller, and I have taken off a layer of tape as well to make it lighter. It is…

Thank you so much for the invite. Unfortunately I was just too tired from the flight to venture into boulder on Wednesday (we're staying in broomfield). I wish I could have made it out, I'm looking forward to meeting all of you!

HI Diane -

The hoop jam will be Monday in Denver. I will get together an announcement and post it to the general wall here and send you the info personally. It will be in Edgewater (near Lakewood) from 7-10 Monday nights. Will be in touch with more specifics later. Hope you can make it! Look forward to hooping with you. Cat

Not really Diane. Things actually got so worse. I try to smile about it but I am very drained and sad and tired. Sorry for being so emotional on your wall, but it's a fact, I am in so much pain.

But to find out that people you never met can think of you and care about you brings that little light in the heart that makes things better, even if only for a second.

Thank you so much <3

Hey Diane! It went great! I was all excited about the colours, and ended up very satisfied with my simple but effective combination of yellow and "blueish" :) I named her Greta!
I only used gaffer as I am trying to learn chest hooping and I wat the most grip so I can't blame it on that. Such a nice feeling, I think I might become addicted to making hoops! :D

well have a great time camping and hooping this weekend. i will keep your business in my thoughts, and i wish you much success. hey, if you have a cash register, put a piece of citrine in it. also, if you have a door to your business, wrap a white ribbon around cinnamin sticks and put it on the knob of the front door. the citrine brings money and the cinnamin brings customer!! much love to you, girl. peace. oh btw it was wonderful hearing from you :)

hoop journey is going well; has had a bit of a speed bump to go over the last few weeks and things around here will be crazy for the coming weeks. so unfortunately, i havent had any time for myself, especially time with the hoop. but after that i hope to get back into it even stronger. im thinking about doing some classes this winter. im also doing a world hoop day event in october. so its exciting; life is exciting, but exhausting.

how have you been, girl?

Thank you so much Diane! Generosity and kind-heartedness like your really make me feel so happy and hopeful that the world I put my son into is not totally corrupted!
It's great that you will keep my offer in mind, I would be delighted to meet people like you and hoop together on the Roman grass :)

And stay assured that one day I'll just pass through Colorado, and will ring at your door with my hoop: "up for a jam?" <3
