"I always spin in a cotton shirt and jeans or jean shorts. Id be wary of just spinning in a nylon bra, but thats just me. Check your tags, I bet more clothes than you think are fire safe. Make sure they arent baggy or fringy though"

"Iv had it happen with a lot of fire hooping as well, but the fans definitely exaggerated it. I actually mostly spin them... but a lot of it is close to my face. I figured there are 5 wicks on a hoop, 10 on a set of fans, so one fan burn is 2 hoop…"

"Nope, not a mix, in fact I think there is only one person in the group that spins with lamp oil and they are never really around."

"I've noticed I'm a LOT more likely to feel weird after spinning my fans than other fire props. I figure it's because I keep the fans closer to my face and they're spinning less, so the fumes are closer and denser....if that makes…"

"I've not burned yet, but what you're describing does sound like you're making yourself ill from inhaling gas fumes. You're also probably exposing yourself to some level of like carbonmonoxide or dioxide... something carbony!!!…"

Help, sick feeling day after burning props?

weird question for all you burners out there. After a night of heavy spinning, do you ever wake up the next day with a dizziness and weird stomach ache? At first I thought it was some new and improved hangover feature, but I even got it nights that I barely drank, and its always been when I have burned a significant amount (Ill call two-three burns with fans a significant amount because there are ten wicks Im exposed to). I went to a regular jam yesterday and burned my fans twice, and woke up…See More

"I spin in the smaller one, however, you can hold the larger one more loosely to incorporate "swinging" moves. I use this technique to do vertical weaves from "dayside" i.e front; to "night side" i.e. back of my…"

Fire fan grips?

Im contemplating fire fans.Okay, more than contemplating, Im about to buy some. I found these - http://www.homeofpoi.com/shop/productDetails/Pair-of-Large-Fire-Fans-Kit-Make-Your-Own on the cheap at home of poi. My concern is the grip rings. Im not sure what type of style I will be spinning (static, spins, etc) so I was looking for a versatile grip. Is this one that will work okay for…See More
