Alternate Tricks for Light Shows

Whenever I bust out my LED 20" minis, all my friends want a light show. I want to give them the optimum performance, but I'm not sure which moves are the "coolest" to view. It's hard to give them a…

Ahh! So I just got my new minis in the mail from moodhoops and when I tried them out they keep slipping out of my grip! The ones I've been practicing with have grip tape, which I didn't realize how…

Hey everyone! I just discovered hooping about a month ago when I went to Lovefest and saw a friend of mine mini hooping. I was completely entranced by it from the beginning. Since then I've been…

Hooping Progress [1 month]

Posted on November 20, 2011 at 9:12pm 0 Comments

Well it's about 1 month into my hooping experience and I can definitely see the improvement from my first video! I'm much more comfortable with my left hand (although not PERFECTLY comfortable xD) and I drop them a whole hell of a lot less. My cats are thankful for this. This weekend I started practicing isolations, the toss with my right hand, and slowing everything down. I realized from watching my previous videos that I was spinning way too fast! I'm also beginning to work on…

The Big Debut

Well I had my big 'debut' - if that's what you want to call it :P

Hooping at an event is difficult!

  1. The obviously higher pressured environment. I'm sure this wears off after you've done it a few times, but I was definitely self conscience. I know in my heart people aren't there to judge me, but I can't help but feel a little intimidated when people would stop to watch me. Especially because there were a few girls who were REALLY amazing. Couldn't help…

No grip, slip!

Posted on October 27, 2011 at 8:31am 1 Comment

Well I received my LEDs in the mail yesterday and I was surprised by how slippery they were. It was a huge disappointment, because I could hardly spin them at all. I tried sanding them down a bit, but it didn't seem to do much. I ended up going back to my regular hoops to practice with because the other ones just kept flying out of my hands, and I didn't want to ruin them before I ever got a real chance to use them.

I'm going to have to get used to the difference in size/weight. The…

My agenda for the week

Posted on October 26, 2011 at 3:32am 0 Comments

So I've decided to come up with a list of the moves I want to practice and perfect by this weekend at Ghostship. Most of them are extremely basic, but I'm hoping that if I can get some transitions in to flow through them then it will look at least a little bit impressive. As soon as I get my LEDs tomorrow I am going to make a video of what I've learned so far.

As of now, I can do these…

Alternate Tricks for Light Shows

Whenever I bust out my LED 20" minis, all my friends want a light show. I want to give them the optimum performance, but I'm not sure which moves are the "coolest" to view. It's hard to give them a light show that's up close and personal without hitting them in the face. I'm not just talking about typical tricks (like buzzsaw, weaves, corkscrew - general crowd pleasers), but other aesthetically appealing visuals that I can perform without worrying about spinning hoops flying into faces. If that…See More

I want to learn how to hoop. It's been a long time since I've had any physical activity in my life and I miss having that natural euphoria associated with exercise. Also, I just got into the rave scene and would love to be able to give light shows for my friends :)
