thanks for the comment on the 1 handed vortex! so good to hear it was helpful :) yes you definitely want to use a smaller hoop for this trick! the tubing i'm using in that video is 1/2 in 100 psi an about 35 inches. but even if you gradually move down even to 40 inches or lower the psi to 100 i think that would be helpful. and it may take a while to build that arm muscle to and just teach your muscles what to do. I did start hooping with a bigger one though and gradually downsized. Now I hoop w 1/2 in 32 inch 100 psi let me know if i can help you out anymore! keep practicing :)

Hi Jennifer, ^_^

I want to know how your new hoop(s) came out.
But I also want to help you find some better quality stuff to work with. Do you have a theater supply or an electrical supply store where you live? Here we have an electrical store called "Rexel" and I think it is a chain so see if maybe you have one.

oh wait....Google...

Look: You HAVE ONE IN LYNCHBURG: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rlz=1G1GGLQ_ENUS339&ei=WKvgS4fpH57k9AT5iIXYAQ&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&ved=0CAUQBSgA&q=rexel+lynchburg+va&spell=1

rexel's website:

http://www.rexelusa.com/

Call or just go in there and ask if they carry gaff tape or spike tape.
I buy it from Rexel here in Winston-Salem. I also order it online or get it from a local theatrical supply house.
These tapes are made of cotton cloth and are are a thousand times easier to use than duct tape. They roll on SMOOTH, and they are super-grippy for your skin and clothing. Buy rolls in one-inch width for the gaff. I think the spike tape is always a half-inch wide. Combine it with electric tape, which is also super-easy to use and you should be on your way to some cute new hoops.

oh...something else I found at Wal-Mart but have not tried to use yet is clear electric tape. They put it separate from the other tapes, back in the hardware section, but I want to try putting down a layer of skinny ribbon and covering it under a line of the clear electric tape for protection. You might try this too!

good luck to you! I hope you post photos of your new hoops!
