At Burning Man 2010, so september 2010

Intermediate mostly, beginner sometimes.

How often do you hoop?
Every day, anywhere from 1 to 4 hours depending on motivation.

Do you have an indoor hoop space?
A small one but it works.

Is there a hoop group where you live?

Not that I know of, but im trying to start one!

Did you start it?
Im working on it.

Would you say that you are obsessed with or addicted to hooping?
Both.

Yes, 1. When I first started hooping I have come a looong way since then.

Do you have friends nearby to hoop with?
I just met one! Up until a week ago I only ever hooped alone.

Do you teach hooping? If so, how many people have you taught?
Ive taught a few people, thinking about organizing classes tho.

What kind of songs do you listen to while hooping?
Lots of different stuff.

Do you buy hoops or make your own?
I make my own, but I just bought a led and fire hoop!

Have you lost weight since starting to hoop?
Not that I have noticed. Im a bartender so I am already very active.

What size is your favorite hoop?
Right now I like hooping with anywhere from a 31'' to a 33''

Are you comfortable hooping by yourself in a public place?
I was nervous at first when I realized that everyone was staring at me, but I learned to tune it out.


How did you learn the majority of the tricks you know today?
Online, mostly youtube and by watching video of other hoopers in slow mo to try and break down a trick.

Who is your favorite hoop teacher?
The first tutorials I ever watched were Safire's, thats how I learned the basics so I have to say hers!

What advice would you give to beginner hoopers?
The classic dont give up, practice practice practice!

Do you fire hoop? If not, do you want to?

Do own an LED hoop? Where did you get it?
Yes. Its a 32'' from Cosmic Hooper. I love it.

How much time do you spend on hoopcity.ca?
A good amount.

What was the first trick you learned (besides waist hooping)?
The Vortex.

What is the last trick you mastered?
Double shoulder duck out, I think thats what its called... now im working on it vertically.

What trick so far was the hardest for you to learn?
Vertical shoulder hooping.

Which one are you finding is almost impossible to get?
The elbow attack! Damn you elbow attack. I have almost got it a few times. I almost always smack myself in the face.

How many hoopers would you say live in your town/city?
I think there are a good amount in Baltimore but west of the city I dont know any.

Have you performed hooping in front of an audience?
I wouldnt call it a performance because its not planned more like a demo lol.

Has anyone told you you were too old to be playing with a hula hoop?
Nope.

What’s the worst injury you’ve acquired from the hoop?
Busted my nose once, other then that lots of bruising.

Have you ever hooped naked?
Yup but I prefer almost naked.

Have you been to a hoop camp/retreat? Which one?
No, unless you count Burning Man. I would really like to go to one some day.
