Welcome to Hoop City! I just made my own hoops for the first time ever two weeks ago, and it was so much easier than I thought, and they are more bouncy and fun and softer than my old hoops! I spent $9 on tubing (enough for 5 hoops, 40 feet of 3/4" 160 PSI PEX can get it at Lowe's has blue stripe or green or red work too I hear), $6 on connectors, $12 for PVC cutter (which you don't necessarily need) and $15 on tape (I got colored duct tape from Walmart). So in all $42 for 5 hoops (and I still have the cutters for the next hoops I make and I still have 2 unopened rolls of tape, and some left of 1 of them). So yeah $40-$50 up front is a lot but you can pay that for just 1 hoop somewhere else, and it is so much fun to make your own and I got 5 made for that price. There are lots of great information on the forums here you can search for help and tips etc.
