So I can finally hoop at the neck, chest, and knees! However, I can only keep the hoop in those places for a very limited amount of time. When I hoop at the neck, it tends to get caught on my right…

A long time ago, I made a promise to myself that I would never do drugs, drink, or smoke. I'm glad to say that I kept said promis to myself and I haven't touched any of that stuff. I was just…

Do you teach hoop classes? *Please only answer 'yes' if you teach classes on a regular basis.
What year did you start hooping? (e.g. 2003)
Who is your hoop mamma or papa? (The person who introduced you to hooping)
Honestly I don't remember. I just clicked a random video while watching fire poi stuff and from then on I was hooked.
Who's hoop style do you love? i.e. Who inspires you?
Lisa Lottie, Sean Stogner, Baxter, Safire.
What is your goal for 2014 and why is it important? (Doesn't have to be hoop related.)
Get my car fixed, Run a 5K without stopping, get into the "athletic" body fat range for women (NEARLY THERE! Yay me!), Get a Helix LED hoop by Proton Labs, have another 4.0 semester at college, learn pole and belly dance, start up a small synthetic dreadlock business, make a mermaid tail, hoop with fire/dance with fire fans/get Quick Wicks and a set of fire fans, attend a hoop group in my town, start hooping with mini's, and much more.
Homestay - Click yes if you would consider sharing accommodations with Hoop City Citizens visiting your hometown.

How old are you? 19 When did you first start hooping?
I've been hooping for a few weeks now.

Would you call yourself a beginner, intermediate or advanced hooper?
Haha. Beginner.

How often do you hoop?
Every day. :)

Do you have an indoor hoop space?
Yes, but it's kinda small. I hit things... Often.

Is there a hoop group where you live?
Yes, but I haven't been able to check them out yet.

Did you start it?
Not I. Maybe one day I will start one though.

Would you say that you are obsessed with or addicted to hooping?
Pretty much. I love both spinning poi and hooping. :)

Have you posted hooping videos? How many?
No I have not.

Do you have friends nearby to hoop with?
I don't really know anyone who likes hooping, unless they're watching ME hoop. :P

Do you teach hooping? If so, how many people have you taught?
I've taught a few people some poi moves, so I'm sure if I learn to hoop, they'll ask me for help with that too.

What kind of songs do you listen to while hooping?
Industrial, rock, indy, and maybe a few pop songs if I'm feeling sausy.

What is your favorite song right now?
It changes weekly, but I'm quite in love with an indy band at the moment.

Do you buy hoops or make your own?
I can't seem to find the stuff to make them, so I bought a rather fantastic one from hoopshoopshoops.com

Have you lost weight since starting to hoop?
That's one of the goals. XD

What size is your favorite hoop?
Ummmm, for right now, I'm gonna have to say 40" light weight. I wanna get a 38" light weight as well.

Are you comfortable hooping by yourself in a public place?
I'm pretty comfortable spinning poi around people, so I hope hooping is the same story.

How did you learn the majority of the tricks you know today?
Youtube! (Thank god for youtube)

Who is your favorite hoop teacher?
I must say SaFire. There are other people on youtube I see who I just dislike for some reason. But she seems friendly and she explains it all really well.

What advice would you give to to beginner hoopers?
Ha! That's exactly what I'm looking for now!

Do you fire hoop? If not, do you want to?
I reallllly want to.

Do own an LED hoop? Where did you get it?
I wish I did.

How much time do you spend on Hoop City Hooping Community?
I'm starting to spend a good deal of time on here.

What was the first trick you learned (besides waist hooping)?
Vortex. I was so very proud of myself. In fact, I still am. :D

What is the last trick you mastered?
"Shimmying" from waist hooping to neck hooping. I wouldn't call it "mastered" though.

What trick so far was the hardest for you to learn?
Knee hooping! I just can't get the hoop to stay up!

Which one are you finding is almost impossible to get?
Just keeping the hoop from falling off my chest/knees.

How many hoopers would you say live in your town/city?
Probably a lot. It's kinda a big place.

Have you performed hooping in front of an audience?
I won't be doing that for a while.

Has anyone told you you were too old to be playing with a hula hoop?
Haha. Nahhh.

What’s the worst injury you’ve acquired from the hoop?
I had a very large bruse on my stomach when I first started.

Have you ever hooped naked?
Haha! Wouldn't you like to know?

Have you been to a hoop camp/retreat? Which one?
I hope to someday. It sounds fun.

Body image, working out, and hoops!

Posted on June 14, 2012 at 6:36pm 0 Comments

I'll be the first to admit, I have poor self image. There are parts about my body that I hate with white hot intensity of 1000 suns. I do try to just let my imperfections go, but it gets increasingly harder to do when you're bombarded with the media's views of perfection all day long. The rational part of me says that those images are Photoshopped all to hell, and that the women depicted are more often than not starving themselves. The media's view of perfection is underweight, unhealthy,…

Journal=Blog? Well I guess I can try.

Posted on June 13, 2012 at 2:30pm 9 Comments

I've been wanting to start a blog for a while now, just so I could write about my daily life and whatnot. The main reason being that I want to become a music journalist, but I've lost a lot of my passion for writing (I personally blame concentrating on my Associates Degree). I think I've lost a lot of my skill as well.

So, I'm starting this journal to try and gain some of my passion/skill back. It won't always be about hooping. It will most likely involve a medley of aspects of my…

Hi JuleeAnn... I do make and sell hoops. I get my stuff from lowe's, but not all stores have it. I go to the Tempe store on Rural and Baseline. I also have "naked hoops" for $10 if you don't want to buy a 100ft roll of tubing, but want to decorate your own.
