Los Angeles burning man decom was a blast. I found myself jamming in the hoop to every kind of music. Jam bands, dubstep, psytrance, house. I could have gone all night.

And I wonder- Is the hoop is some kind of an international symbol of friendship? It just felt so right to walk about with it slung over my shoulder. Three or four folks from my hoop meetup group found me just because I was carrying it around. It made me feel secure. Like, I don't have to explain what I'm about, this hoop…

This week I mastered the vertical behind the back spin. Working on a vertical step-through.

I've adapted to my 39" hoop. My flowy 45" now seems unwieldy. Also the new hoop is all scratched and banged up already. Got lots of people in the hoops at my bday party.

Dead obsessions: Devil sticking, parkour.



Weakening obsessions: Yoga classes - Now I just stretch at home.



Live obsessions: Bicycling- 1.5 years

DJ'ing- 4 years



Now hoopdance?

It seems just dorky enough to be something that might work for me. I'm clumsy, can't juggle or do anything choreographed, can't do sports that involve balls or points, but boy do I like to move.

I hope so. I haven't danced…
