- before i lay out my goals for 2011, i'd like to take stock of my progress from 2010. these were my goals:
goals for 2010...to stop worrying so much about the future, find a job as a massage therapist, go to burning man, and spread my love of hooping to others!
i did go to burning man, and it was amazing and transformative, and i'm looking forward to going this year even more! spreading my love of hooping happens pretty naturally...definitely got some people hooping in 2010! unfortunately, i didn't find a job as a massage therapist in 2010. but i just got one this past week! yay!! and as for not worrying so much about the future...that is one goal i DEFINITELY still need to work on.
goals for 2011:
1) be present! stop dwelling so much on the past and worrying about the future. appreciate things as they are happening.
2) take a totally KICK-ASS vacation with my boyfriend, preferably to Peru, or Israel, or some other awesome place on our list.
3) become totally financially independent. it's about damn time.
4) go the the American Massage Therapy Association national convention in Portland, OR! and also get involved with volunteer events for massage. i'd like to do at least 3 events in 2011.
5) push myself with my hooping. try to have a daily practice, even if i don't feel like doing it. push myself to expand my range of movement and expression.

i totally agree with you. i took a class, and while our teacher was great, she was fully into the philosophy of "building a vocabulary" with poi, and so a lot of moves i wanted to learn she didn't cover at a fast enough pace.…

you can also learn A LOT from youtube....there are really really great tutorials out there....i recommend watching more than one tutorial on the same trick...different people break things down differently and you might "get" what one…

you can still coil it down for travel, just untape the connection and coil it down...then either use more tape to keep it coiled up or use those velcro thingys for keeping electrical cords all organized....i wouldn't coil your hoop all the way…
