When did you first start hooping? April 09

Would you call yourself a beginner, intermediate or advanced hooper?
At this point I'd say I'm intermediate/advanced. I can do a ton of tricks but I still have a lot I want to improve on!

How often do you hoop?
A couple days a week. I don't have an indoor space anymore so it's all got to be outside when it's nice out, and sometimes I'm too cranky to move.

Do you have an indoor hoop space?
My bedroom if I don't want to do anything besides my waist! LAME!

Is there a hoop group where you live?
Kind of, Philadelphia has a huge hooping scene but it isn't really a group.

Did you start it?
Nah.

Would you say that you are obsessed with or addicted to hooping?
Of course I am.

Have you posted hooping videos? How many?
Nope, but maybe some day.

Do you have friends nearby to hoop with?
Sure thing!

Do you teach hooping? If so, how many people have you taught?
I only offer help to my friends who are interested in learning, so no, not formally.

What kind of songs do you listen to while hooping?
Anything awesome.

What is your favorite song right now?
not really obsessed with any one in particular at the moment

Do you buy hoops or make your own?
I bought my first one but now I make them.

Have you lost weight since starting to hoop?
Yeah but I think it was more because I was too poor to buy food!

1/2" tubing, 36" diameter

Are you comfortable hooping by yourself in a public place? Alone?
Yeah sure, whatever.

How did you learn the majority of the tricks you know today?
Youtube, and just watching other hoopers and figuring it out for myself.

Who is your favorite hoop teacher?
safire is awesome, but my yoga teacher friend Liana is badass!

What advice would you give to to beginner hoopers?
PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!

How much time do you spend on safiredance.ning?
Couple minutes a day. Not as much as I used to.

What was the first trick you learned (besides waist hooping)?
Lift up!

What is the last trick you mastered?
Mastered is a vague term for me... perhaps the scorpion? Or horizontal elbow passing.

What trick so far was the hardest for you to learn?
horizontal elbow passing!

Which one are you finding is almost impossible to get?
Hooping on one leg.

How many hoopers would you say live in your town/city?
30! lol

Have you performed hooping in front of an audience?
Just friends or random strangers but not like a show or anything.

Has anyone told you you were too old to be playing with a hula hoop?
Haha no but my dad made a comment about spending $40 on a hoop to be a waste of money, but he's an old man, whatevz.

What’s the worst injury you’ve acquired from the hoop?
Bloody swollen lip.

Have you ever hooped naked?
Yep, feels weird!

Have you been to a hoop camp/retreat? Which one?
I would love to attend one but I have not yet!
