Hooping
What year did you start hooping? (e.g. 2003)

What is your goal for 2012 and why is it important? (Doesn't have to be hoop related.)
Started working with ultra-light tubing and I'm loving it. I just got the hang of 3 beat weaves, and want to continue working on off-body work and changing planes gracefully. And I need to get out more to social hooping and other events. And work on costume design. And and and.
It's important because it keeps me feeling good and improves my quality of life.

MUAH HA HA HA HAAAA! EUREKA! The perfect collapsible hoop!

Posted on March 27, 2009 at 9:00pm 3 Comments

I FINALLY got something workable. I've been trying to design a functional twist-collapse hoop for the last three weeks based on this

Note: all of my trials were done with 160 psi, 3/4" PET irrigation pipe. For filling the gaps between the shaft of my "bolts" and the connector inner diameter, I used some flexible shower-curtain vinyl that sticks to itself. I cut that into strips the same width as the connector's…

My personal struggle--flow...

Posted on March 11, 2009 at 8:23am 8 Comments

Alright, I'm frustrated. I've been hooping in my living room--64 square feet of space is not a lot to work with. 8' x8' is all I've got without hitting shit with the hoop. Needless to say, my focus has been on technical moves: chest hooping, knee hooping, angle hooping, and a very small amount of vertical hooping (hand moves, etc.).

So, I finally got into some bigger spaces this weekend only to find that, while I'm capable of doing all these moves independently, I'm having a really…

Starting to get it. NEED MORE SPACE!

Posted on February 17, 2009 at 5:27pm 2 Comments

I'm maxing out the capacity of my living room. I have a bigger hoop for testing new moves, but it just fits in the space I have. Not much running around to be done with it. I'm afraid that if I do any fancy tricks, I'll break something.

The gym I joined is having problems with its elevator, so it's not open yet. They keep saying "one more week" but I'm getting antsy. I feel like I'm on the verge of really flowing with the hoop. I just need more space. It's still too cold outside to…

Why haven't we met yet?! Have I really been missing you at the hoop happenings around town or have you just not been around?

Or have you been around and I've been too into my hoop that I didn't say hello?

You're the one who connected me with all the super hoopers in Seattle and I haven't met you yet! It's terrible.
