Started this discussion. Last reply by Joan Warburton Feb 13, 2012. 7 Replies

Hello there!I recently purchased a collapsable hoop which breaks down in to four parts with a bungy cord holding it all together. However, I find that the four pieces are not lined up properly and as…

What do you do with long hair when hooping?

My hair is really long and i've been trying to master the shoulder to shoulder move but my poney tail or bun keeps getting in the way or getting caught on the hoop!

Help! I am going to start teaching a hoop class and need help on the write-up!

"My hair is past my waist, so I have the same problem. A bun is so big that the hoop catches it when I duck out, and a braid is thick and in the way for neck hooping (plus it's so long my hand grabs it instead of the hoop for float ups). This is…"

"That is tough. One of my favorite hoop dance videos is by Lisa Lottie (on youtube) and she has dreads. I don't know how she hoops with them but maybe taking a look could give you some pointers?"

"I have very long and medium thick hair and it is frequently a problem. The best hair-do for me to keep it out of the way (and very pretty too!) is a french braid all the way to the end, then I roll the end of the braid fruit roll-up style into a bun…"

"I've made a couple with 1/2" tubing and they gap a little when I open them so I just push that 1/4 " back together. It's fine. Lots of people use 3/4" infinity folding hoops and they're fine. It doesn't seem to be…"

"Yes, that was what I was wondering about.  So the connectors are not a special kind or anything?  And how does the hoop stay together then through vigorous hooping without any rivet or pop button?  I've been agonizing over making…"

Joan Warburton replied to the discussion 'Collapsable Hoop Question: IS it not tight enough?'
"I've never seen pop-riveting on an infinity hoop. They're made by putting in two connectors opposite each other. The tubing has to rotate on the connector so it can't be riveted in place, unless I'm misunderstanding what…"

"I've made a lot of different collapsible hoops but I've never made a bungy cord hoop. The reason is that the cord will loose it's tightness overtime making the cord loose. So as you hoop at a high speed the section can come apart…"
