I went to the gym today to practice, and things went pretty well as far as learning a new move. Still struggling with the one leg hooping and the pizza toss. But I think I may have learned something more important. I hope I can continue to use this. I found that up to now I have been manipulating the hoop to do tricks with it. That is good but it can only get you to a certain place. I think I will learn more if I let the hoop manipulate me! I was practicing what hoopgirl calls the "reverse…  

I must say I have been a little disappointed lately. I recently asked a couple of my previous students that have done very well if they would like to perform with me at a local festival. With the reaction I got you would think I asked them to strip or something. Well actually they said "we're just not up to that" and nothing I could say would convince them otherwise.

Those of you who are teachers, do you also have a hard time getting your students comfortable hooping in front of other…  

It seems that with a full time job, teaching hooping classes, getting my son to band and his job, practicing hooping, promoting my classes, cooking, cleaning the house (notice that came last ;), there is no time left. Thankfully when I am in the hoop, everything stands still for just a little while. Time doesn't seem to exist, just me the hoop and whatever music is on. How blessed we are that we have something that not only gives us exercise, but a euphoric sense of peace as we perform that…  

Here is what I accomplished today as far as hooping. I played for 10 minutes learning the "reverse warrior" . I want to learn to go from that to a reverse jump through but just kind of walked through that part for now. No big deal, didn't do much directly related to hooping today. But what I did do is receive my yoga/bellydance dvd which I think will really help my hooping. I am hoping and believing they will work together to bring me more smooth hooping and body movements.
