You might say the thoughts have been revolving in my mind non-stop... this thing that I'm doing, making hoops, teaching people, (hopefully) inspiring them... it's got to be something more. It's not just a hobby, it's a passion. It's calling to my heart of hearts stronger than anything has before, but what do I call this "thing".
Tonight after some free writing it occured to me...

It occured to me the other day that while I was making continued progress mastering more and more moves, and started to find new and interesting flow between those moves I had yet to master anything on my second side. Yes, I could break and reverse around my waist on my second side, but I had never even tried to paddle, or turn, or ANYthing else in reverse. So I set out to the task of practing to the right.
Part of me was appalled at how awkward it was, and how entirely…

I started hooping in the summer of 2009. At first I was into hooping because I thought it looked cool and was a fun way to play with movement/dance. I had belly danced before and found there was a lot of similarities in body movement. I knew a few hoopers in my area, but not very well, and it was intimidating asking them to teach me. I made some hoops, tried some things that I had seen and scoured the internet for tutorials.
At first I was a bit of a "closet hooper" I…

Heeeey Renae! I really meant to attach this to my friend request..whoops! I am new to the Scottsdale area and brand new to Hoop City, but this site is just the ticket for creating and expanding new hoop roots in Arizona! I moved here from NC in 2010 and have been rockin' my hoops solo for a very long time. I looking to network with local groups for fun, spontaneous hoop-jams, scheduled sessions, workshops, retreats and more than these, simply a bit of camaraderie in the enjoyment of the art of hooping.. :)
