Its all happening!

So I visualized having 5 students at my class and the next day - out of nowhere - I had them! It was totally amazing! I had sold one of my hoops at our local flea market at cost to one of the nannies, and I guess her employer tried it and loved it. So she brought a friend. Now I've suddenly got people contacting me everyday! I'm thinking about expanding to a central location and selling hoops at a couple of local shopping "fairs". Its exciting, now I'm just a little nervous about my ability to…See More

30 days

Its day 3, I'm doing the 30 day raw challenge. Along with Safire and Oprah, I count Alissa Cohen as a leading light. Someone I want to follow. She pioneered raw vegan eating, at least for me. I first saw her on the Tyra Banks show, "Diet Wars". I never actually watch the Tyra Banks show but thanks to being a stay at home Mom in Singapore I was stuck with whatever programming was on and too exhausted to change the channel.Fortunately the universe gave me exactly what I needed at that moment, a…See More

Week #1

So I've taught my first week of beginner hooping and toning class. I'll admit I'm quite disappointed to have only 1 student per class, 3 different people this week in all - out of the 17 who were initially interested. I expected maybe 50% rate of attendance from the original group. It's also the beginning of summer holidays and 2 people emailed me saying they would join when they return from "home leave" trips.I think though that I'll need to move to a more central location in the city, I can't…See More

Class #1

Taping has now become easier. A few lessons learned, don't even attempt a deep angle with specialty tape at first. The narrower the gap between spirals, the easier it is to keep that tape even and cover the whole hoop. Another lesson learned, vinyl tape is really stretchy, don't pull it, let it do its thing. My first class was held in the rain. I actually cancelled it, but decided to head down to the gym anyway with my hoops in case my 1 student hadn't gotten the message. Plus I was in a hooping…See More

Everything is finally here, but this sinusitis just won't let up long enough for me to do anything! I picked up my tubing today, so excited to get started, but my dr has given me a boatload of meds to take for the next two weeks and the husband is very rightly concerned that I not start hoop making until this never ending illness is gone.

Meanwhile I have a few folks rearing to go and a community flea market this weekend that I was hoping to sell my first hoops at. I'm still going to…

Hey there,

I've been raw since April 2008, with a bit of discrepancy over winter, mainly due to depression over a failed relationship. I've been 99%-100% raw again since March.
I don't have a dehydrator yet, though I do want one - it isn't necessary to succeed. I have dehydrated treats sometimes from a raw restaurant in Vancouver.
I've cured all of my issues (except cold sores, which are a lot less severe on the rare occasion I get them) with this diet - extra weight is gone, no more depression (which I dealt with for 25 years and it was gone in 10 days), no more bladder infections, healthier teeth, better skin, no lethargy or insomnia. There was a couple of times where I was so happy I couldn't sleep, though. Hah.
Bread was the hardest thing for me to give up, strangely. I thought it would be sugar but I had so many things to replace it with, and when I read I could still eat chocolate, I was sold. Actually I rarely eat chocolate now, and when I do, I barely need any to be satisfied.
You can always have mana bread - it's a bit cakey, but they sell it in the frozen section of health food stores (Whole Foods will have it), it's quite good. I used to eat it quite a bit.
Keep your diet simple - get Ani Phyo's book, she has nice simple recipes, and check out books by Natalia Rose, too. She isn't 100% raw, but she is all about detox and quick exit foods. Interesting reading.

I would love more info if you have some:) I bet it would make me feel really good and probably have more energy, which I totally need. Do you get enough protein from the nuts? Or do you have to take vitamins while on the diet?

Hi! I am a hoop dancer in Tokyo and I am looking forward to coming to Singapore this Summer. Do you meet up with other hoopers regularly. I would love to hang with some hoopers while I am there. Are there any classes avaialble? I am a hoop dance teachewr here but I also LOVE being a student in other instructors hoop classes, or collaborating with other instructors to grow the communities!

Look forward to meeting up with you in Singapore!
Hoop love,
