When did you first start hooping?

Would you call yourself a beginner, intermediate or advanced hooper?
Well, I'm a beginner in the sense I haven't been hooping too long, but I feel like I'm an intermediate hooper now.

How often do you hoop?
Everyday if I can.  But at least 4 times a week I'd say.

Do you have an indoor hoop space?
Sort of.  I dance at college so when there's an open studio I snatch it up. Haha.

Is there a hoop group where you live?
I'm sure, I'm not familiar with any, but I've seen other hoopers out and about.

Did you start it?
The only hoop group I've started is when it's nice outside and I text some friends inviting them to hoop with me out on campus.

Would you say that you are obsessed with or addicted to hooping?
Oh god yes. So much.

Have you posted hooping videos? How many?
On youtube I probably have at least 8.  Documenting my first day of hooping up to now!

Do you have friends nearby to hoop with?
Yep!

Do you teach hooping? If so, how many people have you taught?
Nope, I teach my friends but that doesn't quite count.

What kind of songs do you listen to while hooping?
Anything.  Something with a good beat, or depending on my emotion it could be anything even classical music!

What is your favorite song right now?
I couldn't pick a favorite, but the entire Adele album "21" is amazing.

Do you buy hoops or make your own?
I bought my first two off of my hoop friend! Then I made my third, and ordered an LED hoop online just recently!

Have you lost weight since starting to hoop?
Nope. But that's because I can't stop eating junk food and sweets!

What size is your favorite hoop?
It's between two of mine.  One is maybe 38 inches and 3/4 or 1 inch tubing, and the other is 34 inches and 7/8 inch tubing and is lighter.  They're both great!

Are you comfortable hooping by yourself in a public place?
Oh yeah. People stare but I love it!

How did you learn the majority of the tricks you know today?
Youtube and my friend.

Who is your favorite hoop teacher?
The internet.

What advice would you give to to beginner hoopers?
Once you get that first trick you want to nail so badly, you'll be so happy that and be able to do everything else!

Do you fire hoop? If not, do you want to?
Nope, but I'd love to try it sometime!

Do own an LED hoop? Where did you get it?
I should be getting it within the next two weeks!!! So excited. I ordered it from cosmic hoops.

How much time do you spend on Hoop City Hooping Community?
Everyday!

What was the first trick you learned (besides waist hooping)?
Shimmying the hoop up to my neck.

What is the last trick you mastered?
Vertical chest hooping and being able to switch out my arms, as well as turn with the hoop in a barrel turn fashion.

What trick so far was the hardest for you to learn?
Knee hooping!

Which one are you finding is almost impossible to get?
Probably chest hooping while standing in place...I can do it fine just turning around with the path of the hoop, but standing still is seeming so hard!

How many hoopers would you say live in your town/city?
I have no idea! At least 20!

Have you performed hooping in front of an audience?
Nope, but I have my first gig coming up in two weeks!!!

Has anyone told you you were too old to be playing with a hula hoop?
Nope! They better not too!

What’s the worst injury you’ve acquired from the hoop?
A near concussion (several times) from foot hooping.  Now I only practice foot hooping with my light hoop...I saw stars the first time my big hoop smacked me in the face. x_x

Have you ever hooped naked?
Haha no.  I'd be willing to try it though!

Have you been to a hoop camp/retreat? Which one?
Nope, if I have an opportunity I definitely will in the future!
