i slow down to take in the view. dune grass dances in the summer breeze. the sun warms the day as the high tide says farewell to the morning. rocks begin to emerge from under the water. shells and magic stones come out of hiding. as the water washes away out to sea new life seems to be born. i step into the coolness of the salty healing energy. feel my feet dig into the softness of the sand underneath. life seems to take on new meaning. so often. that i sometimes wonder why i wonder what i am…  

sometimes i like to hoopdance to the wind. the song of the leaves rustling in the breeze. there is a silence and a stillness in the background yet movement and flow balanced in between. slow, rhythmic movement. feeling the breath within me. feeling the breath of mama earth beneath my feet. she doesn't mind if i drop my hoop upon her. and nor should i. she doesn't mind if i bump the back of my head, make a mistake, or can't quite get a trick. and nor should i. she doesn't even mind if i get…

on a misty rainy night in a little shoretown of rhode island i found a welcoming patch of grass just outside of the hotel we were staying at to call home as i hooped under the crying clouds. my cousin's wedding was beautiful, it was great to be surrounded by my family who i have not seen in so long, but i just had to slip away to find some peace within the circle. as voices danced in the background and more guests trickled into the hotel for some after wedding festivites i felt so completely…
