I am sorry i did not reply to your message earlier, i only just realised that i even had this comments section. Whoops!

Yeah i am circus trained, well kind of.

I taught my self to hoop about 5 years ago from watching heaps of performance videos on youtube and progressed well but slowly. Then 2 years ago i got to go too two work shops with Yos Worth(the lady that taught bunny her circus style). Unfortunately i had a broken foot for both of them so i could only watch and listen. Then Finally late last year i got to do two weeks of various training at the Flying Fruitflys circus with Yos!!! Hurray. Luckily i learnt a lot from just listening to her before because she did not have to correct much of my technique but i still learned heaps.

I am super keen on the circular push which is the circus style. After i learnt it every think particularly splits became so much easier. Also it makes sense because you are always pushing the hoop which gives you more control. It seemed horrible when i first found out about it because i had to completely re learn some things but since then i have been able to get my 4 - 5 and 6 hoop really quickly so it does pay of.

As far as the waist knee combo i think it is totally the hardest one there is. Have you tried adding in a third hoop on the chest or arms. For some reason i found when i was learning it was heaps easier when i had one on the top half of my body too.

I don't regularly come up to syd but let me know if there are any cool hoop things on because i would be keen to come meet some rad Sydney siders.
