When did you first start hooping?
golly, it's been since 2007

Would you call yourself a beginner, intermediate or advanced hooper?
intermediate... or rather "advanced hooper in training"

How often do you hoop?
as often as i can. i recently confessed to some friends that i daydream about hooping at work and regret when i leave them at home on the rare nights that i go to the bar.

Do you have an indoor hoop space?
not really. i have pushed some things aside in my tiny studio apt (which is more like a shoe box...a la malibu stacey) and can do some slow movements in front of my mirror.

Is there a hoop group where you live?
not for lack of trying. i have gotten some of the girls interested enough to purchase hoops but not enough to practice. i'm thinking of starting a weekly meet n' play since my work permit won't allow me to teach a class.

Did you start it?
not yet, but i'm hoping i can!

Would you say that you are obsessed with or addicted to hooping?
the daydreaming, the purchasing of a virety of hoop sizes and weights, the online tutorials... i'm only a little interested. LOL of course i'm a bit obsessed!

Have you posted hooping videos? How many?
i have three on youtube. they're pretty lame but i'm learning!

Do you have friends nearby to hoop with?
well i guess if i start this weekly play date then maybe the girls will want to hoop with me.

Do you teach hooping? If so, how many people have you taught?
i have been known to bring out a couple of my beat-up hoops on a friday night to our resort's weekly karaoke party. i like to play and then of course teach any of the "i can't hulahoop to save my life"s that they too can get into the groove. i also like to teach the girls tricks, when they're around!

What kind of songs do you listen to while hooping?
i stole this survey off one of our male hoopers. i love that he writes that hoops to metal! sweet. i like to hoop to a lot of music, jack johnson is nice and mellow, but of course house house house is the best. like breaks too! daft punk is #1!!! but i can hoop to metric too! yah!

What is your favorite song right now?
i would like to make a routine for "oh my god" by lily allen from the Versions cd i have. it's a really neat jazzy sorta swing mix.

Do you buy hoops or make your own?
currently i have to buy my hoops as the island i live on doesn't have much of hardware selection, let alone an actual hardware store! lol it's a bit of a pain but it's what i got.

Have you lost weight since starting to hoop?
i'm pretty sure i did at first. i know it's trimmed my waist down. i'm going to wear my heart rate monitor while hooping to see how many calories i burn. watch out for a journal on it!

What size is your favorite hoop?
my hoops are your standard 40 inch, probly 130 psi. i'm looking fwd to a smaller, lighter hoop and eventually some twin minis!

Are you comfortable hooping by yourself in a public place?
sometimes i get nervous and the hoop is all over the place. sometimes i'm ON and it works. all the guests seem to really like it when i come out to play.

How did you learn the majority of the tricks you know today?
i bought some dvds from hoopnotica first but once i found SaFire, she was all i ever went to for tips and advice. this site is perfect!

Who is your favorite hoop teacher?
Sandra's really the only "teacher" i've had. the dvds were good, but there's no feedback. that's what teaching is about.

What advice would you give to to beginner hoopers?
patience! it will happen. you have to be good to yourself. don't doubt yourself and don't be afraid of the hoop! it will hurt but the bruises heal! lol

Do you fire hoop? If not, do you want to?
i don't yet. but i def want to get there!

Do own an LED hoop? Where did you get it?
not yet. the moment my boyfriend and i move in together we're buying a kit to make our own. our first project for our new place.

How much time do you spend on safiredance.ning?
everyday. sometimes hours ! hee hee! i'm looking fwd to all the new tutorials... :P

What was the first trick you learned (besides waist hooping)?
the halo.

What is the last trick you mastered?

What trick so far was the hardest for you to learn?
knee hooping was hard. chest hooping was difficult too. but i got them both!

Which one are you finding is almost impossible to get?
so far i have been trying to teach myself vertical hooping both at the waist and the chest. why can't i figure it out?!

How many hoopers would you say live in your town/city?
serious hoopers? 1 ... girls with hoops? 5

Have you performed hooping in front of an audience? I
yes, at the bar here at our resort.

Has anyone told you you were too old to be playing with a hula hoop?
what!? no way! they think what i do is fun and graceful.

What’s the worst injury you’ve acquired from the hoop?
i got smacked in the face by my hoop when a drunken guest was trying to halo (despite my pleas for her to stop). it slipped out of her hand and came across my nose and mouth. i was swollen for days!

Have you ever hooped naked?
not yet! but it's a great idea!

Have you been to a hoop camp/retreat? Which one?
i haven't been. i heard there was one in costa rica, and i might be going to teach english in that country. if its there...i will find it!
