Wow, I've been having an excellent time hooping lately. I've gotten in a lot of really good sessions of just me, my hoop, some tunes (Lady Gaga seems to be my music of choice) and a wide open garage! So, so nice. I just love how hooping makes me feel. So happy, so alive! I was dead tired after a long day yesterday when I picked up the hoop last evening, but after a few moments, I felt energized and happy! I could've hooped all night. Unfortunately, I have a bedtime that needs to be obeyed if I w…
I've been working on the vortex for the past few days and I have come to realize that it's a lot easier for me to start it by hooping at the waist and bringing up into a lasso versus bringing it up from the side...also I'm loosening my grip as well as varying the movement of my wrist to sort of "push" the hoop up the second time to continue and it's working! Not where I want to be but I am getting there :)

I haven't been active on this site in a long time, and I haven't hooped seriously in almost as long. I don't want to make my story any longer or more complicated than it needs to be, so I'll just say that Something Bad Happened to my shoulders, and I was in Intolerable Pain for over three months. I couldn't hoop, I couldn't write, I couldn't do painting or jewelry. I couldn't do any of the things that, to my way of thinking, make me me.
When I say it was one of the most miserable experie…
I am happy to say that even though I am still a beginner and still in the process of learning beginner/basic tricks I am getting used to the space that I have :) I now know my limitations and am able to concentrate better on moving along with the beat of music with my hoop without being super paranoid all the time about hitting things :) I have also come to realize that my basement along with the movement of some furniture can hold a lot of space for me to move around freely, with the exception…

I love Saturdays. I love them for many reasons, but one of my main reasons currently is the fact that I sell hula hoops at the market. It's an early start... Up at 5:45 to be at my friends for 6:30. Setup at 7 and market shoppers start arriving around 8. But it's all worth it.
I love talking with people and listening to their stories. I love sharing my passion for hula hooping and watching new hoopers become hooked. It truly fills my heart.
Today my heart was filled to the brim. I beat my old…
I am so annoyed, so UGH, you see everytime my family moves, *which is like once A year* well I do.. anways, ANYTIME we move, I am working my ASS off moving shit, like its nothing, and my little brother always has to bitch and whine, I'm so sick of it.. First: THANK YOU to everyone who commented on Jar of Hearts, and SaFire for featuring it. For a long time I fell into the "next trick, next trick, next trick" trap, and kind of got bogged down in not being a cool hooper like everyone else. I'm fighting to find my hoopDANCE love again, and this video was part of trying to capture that. So it means a lot to me, this video, for a lot of different reasons, and it just floors me with gratitude that it seems to mean something to others as well. I real…
Well I ended up practicing a little toooo much and I hurt my hand :( the gaffers tape did a number on my skin so now my hand is all bandaged up because my skin on my palm came off...so no more vortex practice until its all better :|

......I wouldn’t read the following little pieces of legislation. Funny how it’s completely against the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and basic human principles. Read the full post HERE!

I started hooping about a year ago- june 2009. I started hooping because it was fun and endlessly challenging.
August 27 2009- my dad, best friend, mentor and any other possible influential title associated, died. Just like that. Surviving and recovering from chemo and a full body bone marrow transplant was no match for cancer. I was grateful enough to speak to him the day before he died and am happy to know my last words were i love you.
I put down hooping for a few months trying to focus on m…

Whoosh! zooming and spinning in beat...
woo, this week was hectic! A tornado hit my farm this wednesday, none but the apple trees damaged, sad story. So many peaches on the ground as well... the rest of the week I've been watching screaming children, who slap each other. They are my neighbors kids. Don't try to pull my hair out you little jerk. No chance in hell I'll be your best friend.
BUT....
I've salvaged some sanity with the plastic spins and a free netflix account. Yoga is so lovely, as…
Great Sucess! A mini hoop lesson during my coffee break :)
My department just moved into a new building with TONS of open space. Instantly I was thinking "Damn! This some good hooping space!" So today I brought in some hoops and did a mini hoop lesson for my co-workers on our 15 minute coffee break. It went great! They had fun, I had fun, we were getting a workout while at work instead of waisting our coffee break gossiping. Great sucess! Going to be a weekly occurance now for sure! Two 15 minu…
Well I'm in my first weeks of hooping and I think it's going pretty well! I have learned a few basic tricks and am trying to learn to flow with the hoop, I think thats the hardest part of all! I think it would be a little easier if I had more space but I make do with what I've got :) there is a nice hoopy space in the back of my apartment but it is the communal doggie bathroom....gross! So I will stay inside for now until I become more comfortable with my hooping skillz!!

I cant seem to figure out how to get the hoop to go up and down, I know how to bring it up and I know how to bring it back down, but when I try to keep it in a groove...it doesnt work....what do I need to do???!!!
I have motivation. I have ideas. Now I just need space and opportunity. I'm putting it out to the universe. and i'm so ready for school to begin. bring it!
here. hoop to this track. it's amazingly beautiful. the video's gorgeous, too.
Got this from a puzzle on www.cryptograms.org:
