Today was an off day. I couldn't nail a thing and I kept getting frustrated...even simple waist hooping felt awkward. I hate days like this! I know that tomorrow could be a great day, but it makes me feel so down when nothing's working...
I've found that it seems harder for me to hoop on the lawn. I do a lot better on a flat surface (concrete or linoleum or something). Does anyone else have this problem, too? I think it might be psychosomatic...I only think
it's harder. Ah,…

I've finally had a breakthrough and am proud to announce that I can now CHEST HOOP! This has been an extremelyyyyy frustrating thing for me as I've seen videos of people who have been hooping for less time than I yet can nail chest hooping.
Now it's my turn!!! I watched Megz tutorial on chest hooping which helped me and I just kept practicing and practicing annnnd I actually did it today. I still look pretty silly doing it but I know that will change with time.

Wow... I had such a productive day today! I managed to kinda sorta learn 3 new tricks!!! I don't think I've ever made so much progress before... I give credit to the tons of inspiration and good vibes I've gotten from you guys! I learned the 'revolving door' lol which was pretty easy, but then i FINALLY got a behind the back roll! Not sure if that's the right name for it, but you spin in front of you and then bend over and it rolls across your back and arms... yea, well I have been working on…

I just found out that this chick I graduated highschool with has breast cancer. She was the star of the girls basketball team, prom queen, did not party or have sex with her prom king boyfriend and was nice to everyone. Erin was perfect. I don't know much about her diagnoses except that she is opting not to have chemotherapy treatments. I'll let you know as things develop.
A 60 year old lady named Ila came to hoop group last Saturday. She couldn't keep it up around her waist at first…

Okay, so everytime I attempt angle hooping, I look like a complete moron. My boyfriend started laughin his ass off and was like "uhh.... I wouldn't practice that one in public" Yea. So my problem is that I'll have it going at first, but then it would just start falling back on the horizontal plane. SO I started kinda hopping when I do it, and it works better! So I figured out I have to push the hoop in an up down motion (duh.... captain obvious) SO is there anyway I can make this motion without…

There's got to be some hoopers hiding out in good old Staten Italy :), or am I just the only one that has taken on this great new hobby? I'm hooping not :) If there were just two more people interested then maybe there could be the making of a new get together / hooping / music / exercise type of thing right here in Staten Island. ANY HOOPERS OUT HERE????????????????????????????????????????????????

So, I heard on Oprah that there were these Blue Zones. They are these locations on earth where people live the longest. They live a long time because of their environment and lifestyle. I heard one was in Nicoya, Costa Rica. I'm a tropic girl living in one of the coldest spots in the nation so that was the one I was drawn to. It's a peninsula on the west side of Costa Rica. While looking around at various websites I stumbled upon this one: www.montezumabeach.com . Montezuma is a funky little…

My first day was this Monday, MLK day, and I pretty much just got used to keeping the hoop up without dropping it - Tue and Wed were much better. I've practiced every day so far and I'm able to hoop in both directions, circle around, walk, dance, stall the hoop and do basic arm work. I can hoop with one arm inside and at my hips. I have a pretty good sized bruise on my left hip right where the bone sticks out in front, on my forearm and a few on my leg. All-in-all I'm happy with my progress so…

I recently graduated with my Fine Arts degree, concentrating in ceramics. I had never done much with clay before I came to college. I remember learning to center the clay, the first step in wheel throwing. Being at the wheel was a wonderful experience for me. I became mesmerized
by the circular, spinnin
g movement. It hypnotized me, and it felt so comfortable to close my eyes and use centrifugal force
and nothing but my hands to control the shape of the vessel I was…

Today I had the most brilliant idea to wrap scarves around my knees for leg hooping! Yeah, that's right and it worked wonders! I wrapped them a little above and below the knee. They act as a barrier to keep the hoop up and in the unfortunate (and frequent for me) event that the hoop hits you on the knee it doesn't hurt! Waaaa Hooooo!
I fell off my Compact wagon yesterday. I bought a lightswitch cover and I don't even know why. TOTAL buyers remorse afterwards and it's not even that…

This is awesome,
So I think I'm pretty close to having the class outlines done. It's been really tricky to decide what is a "beginner" and what is "advanced." I found as I was writing the advanced trick list I kept say, "nah, I bet intermediate hoopers could get that one."
The thing of it is, is that we all learn differently, what might be really hard for me might be really easy for you. So I've done my best in trying to organize the tricks into the correct group to create…

So, I don't have a TV in my room, and this leads me to the downstairs Big Screen every Thursday to watch The Office. My friend Ashlee and I watch it together, so we brought our hoops and decided to hoop during breaks. One guy came and started watching with us and we somehow got him to hoop with us! He was pretty decent once he got the hang of it:) Anyways, between 20:45 and 12:15 we got about 10 people to stop and hoop with us! After we were all tired and just sat and talked about getting…

I just got back from a great hoop session! I'm so happy we were able to turn an underused boardroom into an exercise room at my office. No one was in there today and there is just enough room for me to dance and practice tricks!
I have been talking about hooping so much in the past week but have actually not been hooping at all so I figured today would be a good day to go burn off some energy and I felt like I had some breakthroughs today with some combos and tricks I've been trying…

I love and want to reinforce the fact that religion, gender, sexuality, beliefs, taste in music, and politics cannot create a division in the hooping community. I want it to stay this way. We need to set the bar when it comes to equality and keeping things non-competitive. I think the community could set a new tone in the years ahead.

So I think I've watched almost every hooping video ever on youtube and I've been watching some of the videos on this site as well and I noticed something that I really enjoy about hooping is that everyone has their own unique style! There is no right or wrong way and I keep figuring things out about hooping that I can apply to my everyday life! I love watching others hoop. I love how everyone does it different and no two people hoop alike, just how in life, no two people are…
