I am so excited. Later in April I will begin teaching classes at the most perfect possible studio, and I could not be more excited!!! The studio teaches belly dance, yoga, tribal drumming, and now hoop dance!! I met with the owner tonight, and she is wonderful. I may even get to perform with their dance troupe, which would be two dreams coming true in one go!
If you are anywhere near Grand Prairie, TX and are interested in taking beginner level classes, please contact the studio!…

So I'll start with the more positive things because, well, I like to stay positive. =) I just bought Safire's Budding hooper class and I can't wait to start working on everything. So much new information already and she hasn't even got close to everything up yet. I'm also about to start a beginner Yoga class in a few weeks and I can't wait. I really think Yoga will help me become more intune to myself and my soul. It might even help me with the stifled expression I've been feeling…

I am off to bed and I wish for tomorrow morning to find my email inbox increased by at least 1 number, announcing me a new tutorial...
Good night ladies and gentlemen.
I love you all.

hoophut's "Rad Rack Hoop Holder"
I saw this and immediately thought of everyone here, especially Lealyn (for your hoop booth for the extra hoops). I know I'm going to need this. The hoops have taken over the closet and I still have 3/4" 100 psi tubing in the closet and the 7/8" 105 psi tubing (50 feet of it!) for fast glow stick hoops on the way. I give this two…

Has only been 27 minutes long
I am lovable because I exist
Wants to be sunny
I'm glad the internet is working
A candle is lit on my desk
Everybody is looking for something
I will go to her arrainment
I want to hoop so badly
Happened while I was writing this... off to…

Everyday when I go to hoop I remember when and how I started. After moving to Colorado from Boston to go to school @ Cu Boulder, I had a hard time adjusting first semester. Colorado has everything I want, mountains for hiking and skiing, beautiful weather, a dank music scene and the laid back atmosphere of the West Coast that I felt the East Coast lacked. Everything was great-- except the fact that my tight knight family was seperated by thousands of miles and expensive flight prices. I went to…

When I started hooping, life wasn't a bed of roses. More like a couch of tacks. I was living with my Boyfriend trying to have that happy life. Soon after I found myself getting bored and sick of the poor life style I was in. When I say poor I do not mean financially but being unhappy with myself.
If you can't make yourself happy, how can you make another?
Maybe I couldn't. I tried but it still seemed that I was the F*** up. All I was trying to do was make him and myself happy. That was…

i have noticed finally the snow is receding ..
there are bare patches on my lawn !
i am so excited to see winter going out and spring coming in.
it is such a long season compared to the other 3 .
today looks like it might even be a nice day, so i will
head outside with the lap top and take some footage to see how i'm flowing these days.
oh to stretch my arms completely .. no dogs getting startled from a deep sleep with an out of control flying hoop..

Today I danced with my big hoop, exploring space and movement within the circle. I watched belly dance videos from Expert Village for inspiration. Like hoop dance, belly dance seems to use slow, exaggerated gestures to frame and accentuate the flowing, continual motion of the dancer’s core.
The most common problem I’m encountering is that many of the gestures cross the path of the hoop during waist hooping. I’m trying to move some of the arm-motions higher on the chest and also…

It's official, I'm getting hooked on hooping. Bought my first hoop from from Becca "email@example.com", got my second one (a collapsable one that I can bring with me to Denmark in June from "BodyHoop"). Having Becca make me two small hoops and one to match my first one. :-) so I can multi-hoop.

Hooping is lots of fun, and I truly love it, but it seems that no one else I've come across wants to try it or if they do, they quit really fast. I can't find anyone in my area that would want to practice some tricks, share some tricks, and just have fun hooping with. The computer is fine, but it's not the same as getting together with a few people. Anyone in Staten Island into hooping???????????????????

It's been an interesting few weeks! I got laid off at the beginning of the month, so my computer time has been limited. It sounds like a bad thing, but it's really a blessing in disguise. I've never been drawn to anything like I'm drawn to hooping, and it feels like everything is pointing towards pursuing this as a career.
I was incredibly blessed to get to attend Julia's (Sassy Hoops
) free class this past Friday. She is a…

Bring out your LED hoops, ladies!
At 8:30, turn off your lights for Earth Hour and hoopdance for our planet. Dance an end to wasted energy and light pollution. Dance a change in our global conscousness.
This year, Earth Hour has been transformed into the world’s first global election, between Earth and global warming.
For the first time in history, people of all…

So in the past few months I've been practicing twice a week, and... I haven't really learned anything new. There was a week where I learned 4 moves in that one week, but other than that, it's been a plateau. This month marks my one year anniversary of making my very first hoop. For about 6 months it was up and up and up, and then I hit a plateau. And it's still there. When I practice it's the same old things that I'm practicing and nothing new :( I guess I'm working more on my flow and style,…

Well, it looks like I've been hooping for about three months now.
To be perfectly honest I don't see much of a change. The scale tells me that (in a month) I've lost 10 pounds, simply by standing in the privacy of my bedroom, hooping to some Justin Timberlake (lol). Not sure how much I've lost since then, but I haven't had the chance to hoop twice a day like I used to.
At the beginning on March I began attending Loren Bidner's…

I FINALLY got something workable. I've been trying to design a functional twist-collapse hoop for the last three weeks based on this
: all of my trials were done with 160 psi, 3/4" PET irrigation pipe. For filling the gaps between the shaft of my "bolts" and the connector inner diameter, I used some flexible shower-curtain vinyl that sticks to itself. I cut that into strips the same width as the connector's…

Literally. I've had two visits to the dermatologist these past two weeks and now I'm looking like Frankenstien's bride. I had two cysts removed, a small one on my shin last week and a large one on my back that had ruptured was removed yesterday. I feel so much better now that they are gone, but I look pretty horrorshow.
I've got a class starting tonight in Allen, and thank the stars for Jessica who's coming to help demo the first class. This is the first time I'm running with a…
