First outdoor hoop of the year!!

I've been watching the snow in my backyard, try to pretend to melt. I look at it everyday hoping, "maybe in a week I can hoop in the sun?" Well, my backyard is still mounded with snow, but I realized not EVERYWHERE is. there is bare grass to be found all over the city, sopping wet, but void of snow. So today I packed my hoop and some beats and went across the street to the park in my community. It was only 7 degrees C so I wasn't sure if I would be warm enough. After peeling off layer after…

So I was featured on hooping.org. . .

Raven

Yay!

I almost didn't take this video. . .I was packing up after being at the river for a few hours ready to leave and decided to throw on a random song I have never heard before and take a video really quick. I'm kind of embarrassed that my hoop kinked and I didn't notice it .___.

Shamanic Animals & puns.

“I can’t figure out, how to figure out what a dream is, or could be.”

These were the words that echoed in the atmosphere as each step, traced by the zodiac, rooted itself towards the tree. Following the fence-lined road behind me was the liar, the dancer, the frustrated, and the hunter of dreams. Their Shamanic energy whirled around me like soft, mad children. There was no getting rid of them, no getting rid of what I am.

“It’s a journey, it’s the process. All will happen as it…

Dance (or This Saturday Night)

I wanna

spiral spiral, come unbound…

chased by rhythm, destroyed by sound.

Break,

crest with the high the melody made.

(dRown drOwn droWn  drowN [strong wave])

Shimmy, in the shattered time

gulping laser bubbled aural wine.

Raze my inhibition, spring…

Chest hooping in earth angle... WHAT!!

"Something new everyday" that's my goal, and it seems to be working. Since attending Edmonton's Hoop Path this past February, I just couldn't wait for summer any longer and vowed to find an indoor hoop space. (I hadn't picked up my hoop since October) At the very sad end of a fantastic Hoop Path, I was just beginning to experiment with angles and I had still not mastered the art of chest hooping. Now after nearly a month of dedicated practice (an hour everyday I don't work, and usually every…

My body isn't ready but my mind is

I am in so much pain today from just being on my feet for a little while. I did manage to tidy up my place a bit but I know I shouldn't over do it and won't be hooping today. I could almost cry. After an extra long pregnancy I just want to get back in my hoop hard core! I need to get healthy first but damn this is frustrating...

Twins

After almost a year and a half of hooping, I finally decided to try out twins.  I'm using two cheap kids hoops from the local home store.  I may have to go back and find another pair, as these ones aren't balanced.  One is slightly thicker and heavier than the other.  I may be able to tape them differently to make them weigh the same, though.

I also recently started spinning poi.  I've only managed to get a few moves down so far, but the forward two and three beat weaves and windmill…

it's been a while...

I haven't even been on hoopcity in months:( life has just been so crazy and winter made me hibernate and hooping was at an all time low in practice time. but the season is changing and life is changing and i'll make time for it now that its getting lovely outside. I'd love to actually spend time hooping with others but i work so darn much i never have good time off to do so. Then i end up just spending 15min here and there hooping alone. But i suppose its better than not hooping at all. i'm…

Yayyy!

Today I made my first hoop video after just over 2 and a half months of hooping I feel it's time to start my visual progress this way I can see and whoever else cares to see can also watch me grow into my hoop, and balance out my poi :)

The day i grew wings

I have been in a relationship with my boyfriend for four years now and it started out amazingly and i felt so blessed but as time crept by we slowly started to loose each other and would hide behind the truth just doing and not living. I was in such emotional agaony I tried so hard to fix what could not be helped i was scared and frighten of being alone until I had an epiphany today while hooping! It told me to just let go and the rest will fallow that i cannot depict and control my path…

Becoming a more active hooper

I have been hooping now for almost 3 years and recently I stoped hooping due to the fact that I was pregnant. Although  I couldn't body hoop during this time I picked up minis for the first time and also worked a bit on my off body moves. Playing was fun but I am for sure a body hoop kind of girl! Now that I am ready to get back in my hoop, I really want more from my hoop. I am looking to make my hula hoop a priority in my life instead of a past time. I am going to get involved more on hoop…

Toss up.

Ok...so, I think it'd be awesome to get an LED hoop. I've borrowed a friends once and I really enjoyed using it. They're fun and look super bad ass. Plus, I can hoop in the dark and not be self-conscious. When I get better at hooping I think it'd be an excellent investment. But I'm a beginner...more or less...is that a reason not to put aside 40 dollars a paycheck for one?

Symphony of Light and Shadow

Because that's what it was. There was a thunderstorm two nights ago and as the sun was going down I got to go out and hoop under it. :) One word. Awesome. I have to do that again sometime. We didn't get any rain, but there was a lot of lightning and just watching the clouds build overhead until I could see the stars was amazing. I should have been a storm chaser.

Some of my favorite storm photos:…

Any Suggestions?

Hey everyone! I am having some issues with knee-hooping, I just can't seem to get the hang of it. I have been practicing my little heart out. I'm also having a little trouble with shoulder hooping. I can bring the hoop up with my arms inside, but when I try pumping my chest and back in and out my hoop looks like a wet noodle. I was just wondering if anybody has any secrets to figuring these moves out. I have watched several tutorials. I don't know. These two seem really challenging…
