a little nervous

Hey hoopers! I'm having a little bit of a dilema. I use the studio at the YMCA to practice my hoop dance and the ladies there have taken a huge liking to it. (not suprisingly hehe) However, now they are asking me to do a hoop demo for their family night.

I love to share hooping with people and it sounds like a great idea but I'm sooo nervous about it. I haven't sat down with them yet to discuss the details of what they would want me to do....but I know some of you lovely ladies (and…

I'm so proud -- my blog post was featured on hooping.org!

I'm wiggling with joy, ya'll!

My blog post with instructions for how to make the quick-release connectors was posted to Hooping.org by Philo yesterday. I had posted it to my Wordpress blog and then here and didn't expect it to be on hooping.org! I'm excited and proud because ever since I started hooping, I've dreamed of something involving me and hoops to be featured on that website. I just never expected it to be from my connectors instructions!…

my experience with promod led hoop kit

I got my promods led hoop kit a few weeks ago. I tried to strip the wire with just a plain ol wire stripper. Man, that didnt work out. I ruined the wire, so yesterday I went to radio shack for more wire and the automatic wire strippers.

I started working on it at 9:00PM. I had alot of trouble at first. My first strand of wire I cut through. So I tried a new piece. After finally getting a wire that I have not cut through it was time to add the led lights. With that being finished and all…

Earth Day Inspiration through sadness

These are not my words but I wanted to share them....They were written by a beautiful soul who was taken far too early. I went for a walk this morning to the site where she was found and spent a long while in prayer and contemplation. It has been three years but the memories are still fresh. I felt like It was important to share this...because she was dedicating her life to making the world a better place and I need to remember her this way.

A Busy, Blissful Week

This has been the kind of week when I’m too busy to realize I’m having fun. On Weds. I had an interview, then a hoop dance demonstration at the campus Spring Fling. After an hour of hooping, my friend and I loaded all our kids into the car for a trip to the creek. We had a silly, muddy good time. Then back to campus for the Evening Fling and more hooping.

Thursday I attended a fascinating lecture by Doug Fine who recounted comic stories of his journey toward sustainability.…

Earth Day 2009 Columbia, MO

Tomorrow, Sunday 26th is Columbia Missouri's Earth Day celebration. Last night I met some chicas that will be having a hooping booth selling locally made hoops. The Scattered Stars will be preforming somewhere in the crowd of people in the grass somewhere.

Just thought I may as well throw that out there.

have a beautiful Earth day~

My friend Cate *turquoisemoon* is coming down to sell her B-e-a-UTIFUL jewelry too! It will be so great to see her and her little fam (She's got the most gorgeous baby boy you've ever seen). Luminos Hoops have I, Luminos Hoops have you!

A little Yoda for you today. :-)

I have finally decided to get off me bum (figuratively speaking) and put my Luminos Hoops -- the glow stick hoops -- out for sale. They've been perfected and summer night hooping is almost upon us, and festie season too, and SaFire has been so kind as to create a marketplace here that it just felt right. Of course, I will prolly still do an Etsy shop one day seeing as how I already registered a shop…

has anyone else

ever had so much trouble picking out hoop colours?

i can not wait to be back in civilization so i can go out and buy the appropriate materials to start making hoops! i love being able to order a hoop and just have it sent to me, it's great. but it takes forever to get them here and regular shipping costs a small fortune to get them to the cayman islands.

i'm getting my next hoop(s) sent to my momma's house since i will be home for a visit in a month. i can just bring them back with me…

The Best Part of My Workday...

One of my jobs is at a senior living center- I love the residents. Lately there has been tension galore between staff with all the new changes in the services we provide. Some days are great. And some days are filled with open hostility. (Really. I left junior high ages ago.)

The best part of my day- on the good days and on the stressful days- is when I take my hoop outside during my lunch break. I come back to work sweaty, but refreshed in spirit. I can smile and hold nothing but…

*dancing in circles*

*the wind sings her song as i dance to her music. spinning circles under the apricot tree. the sun's warmth melts any thoughts of gray away and colors seem to radiate joy for simply being. shades of blue and purple play together as golden glitter shines with silver. green and yellow twirl in perfect circles. laughter tickles my very being while pure joy caresses my very soul.* all i can think about is hoop dancing. all other thoughts seem to fade away. even as i sit in quite meditation…

My Introduction

Oops, I just found the intro. I have some friends that hoop and thought it might be fun. I went to a Contra Dance week in West Virginia and brought 100' of 3/4" pipe and some tape and decided to try it. I made about 8 hoops and by the end of the week I could waist hoop pretty good. There was a little girl there that was doing some amazing things. I even sold some hoops there. I came back and found this site, which is great as there aren't any hoopers where I live yet, but I'm going to change…
