Craziest Week, I need my hoop!!

This week was CRAZY! I started a job at a hotel (I went to school for baking and pastry arts) and I was working in the kitchen when I realized this just wasn't quite right. Getting up at 4 a.m. was messing with my schedule especially when I am not getting the time to actually bake instead of work a line. So I quit and am now working at Concerto's in Chocolate after much stress over where I was going to find a job. However, through it all I found total comfort in my hoop. One night I was even…

It Might Not Be Healthy..

It may not be healthy, but I am enjoying this hoop community SO much! I love watching peoples videos and I love the feedback I have gotten on my own! Going through pictures is always fun and now that I have subscribed to Safire's classes I am learning which makes this place even more awesome!

I guess all I wanted to say was thanks hooping community for rocking my socks off!!

And a note, I will most likely be posting some videos of my progress as I go through the class so…

schwagstock 40

This pervious weekend was Schwagstock 40. One of the best schwagstocks I've ever experienced. I had to go by myself this year. My friends that were planning to go, bailed one day before it was time to leave. I was rather worried at first, until my friend let me use his GPS. Then I knew the trip was going to be a lot easier.

Salem Mo is about 6hrs away from where I live. I had never been on a road trip by myself for 6hrs. Realizing "Hey its just me" I was more excited about the whole idea…

just a short update on me

well my birthday is pretty darn close now and my 1st burn is still on schedule..

after trial and error twice with wire size for spokes, (1st 2 times it was just all too heavy when finished.. seriously over 3 1/2 pounds the first time..can we say over kill...)

but i believe the 3rd one will be the keeper...

i have been reading an enormous amount of fire safety articles.. as well as my boyfriends constant quizzing..(he's on the fire department here so he thinks it his…

Summer time, when the living is easy

My first weekend at the Sedalia Area Farmer’s Market went well. Despite having a very minimal booth-set up and a small inventory, I made a little money selling both hemp and hoops. All the hoops I sold were small (25-ish inch) toddler hoops. I sell them with the explanation that:

“Most kids won’t start waist hooping till 4 or 5, but toddlers and pre-schoolers will love to toss and spin these small, colorful hoops alongside Mom or older siblings.”

However, parents seem to…

Banned Books Read-in

I'm in the middle of making at least three new hoops! My friend, Julie, teaches at an alternative high school. Last year she did a banned books unit and decided to have a read-in at the end of it. All the kids sat outside and read banned books. They made signs and it was wonderful. She's having one again this year and it's going to be better than ever! Not only will there being reading, but tie dye, face painting and she told her kids that I'm bringing my hoop! They are a curious bunch, so…

Sum Sum Summah-Time!

Ok. So today is my first official day of my summer. I finished calculating my student's grades, had a nice weekend with J and now he's back at work and it's just me, the cat, our apartment and the world outside. I'm done with my job at the college, schools out for summer and the woman I was replacing is coming back next fall... we think. People aren't signing up for French classes at the other school where I part-time, so aside from a private here and there, I'm unemployed for a bit. I need to…

Black and Gold!

I made a new hoop last night with the gold and black tape I picked up at Canadian Tire. Its awesome, but a bit slippy. Nothing I can't fix though.

Last night I realized the best thing about getting used to the hoop on my body before tackling tricks. Every practice session is a hoop jam. No drilling tricks, just crank the music and dance my ass off.

I love love love love hand hooping over my head and dancing under the hoop. It makes me feel graceful.

Where did my hoopiness go?

****sigh**** So I have neglected my hoop over the last 3 months or so, probably longer. Life started getting in the way of my happiness in the hoop. I wasnt eating so when I would hoop I would get a headache after 15 min. or so...especially outside in the sweltering New Orleans weather, I was getting more frustrated than motivated during practice, etc. so I put the hoop down hoping that my ridiculous twists and turns right now in life wouldnt forever taint my "hoopiness". Well, it seems that in…

Today was a good Day

I was hooping at the River

Right next to the Waterfall

and whoops...my hoop flew from my hand and tumbled down the rocks and water

It floated into the lower pool so beautiful I was watching, mesmerized.

when I saw a man emerge from the dark woods strangely familiar

He jumped into the water and when he surfaced all glinting in the sunlight he was in the center of my hoop,

I blushed, strange how something like that could feel so.....intimate

He climbed up the…

The Hoop Sizes

I have been playing a lot lately with the size of my hoops. I went down to what felt really small to me for a hwile being around 34 inches, then Iwent back to the size I started at which is around 38 inches, and now I am settling in around 37 inches. I feel so floaty all the time with what size I like best. I know that to some degree the hoop and your waist size match up a bit so I wonder if my weight flux has anything to do with the sizes I prefer. Or if just simply 37 inch is where I…

Humbled Hooping

My feelings about my hooping have been going up and down lately, like I'm totally bi-polar. One day I'm feeling like I'm so awesome, and I've acomplished so much, and I'm really starting to finally feel like a "hoop dancer", and I'm gonna do so much, learn so much, acomplish so much more, and I'm gonna rock this thing out... and I rock and I'm special and it's awesome. And then, just when my head is starting to get a little bloated, I'll loose the pizzaz in my hooping... And then I'll go online…

first video =S

Well I've come home for my study leave from Uni before my exams next week *eek* but instead of revising i am hooping... and the weather is soooo nice today, and it's been raining for the past few weeks and apparently will again tomorrow so thought i'd try recording a video in the sunshine.

I'm still having issues with my videos, still feel like i'm doing a performance in front of loads of people! so i forget everything and seem to do nice simple things but it's ok, I'm sure i'll get…
