So I'm back from my first official Hoop class and it was awesome! Six people showed up and they were all able to get the hoop going in the first 5 minutes. We went over hooping in both directions, the 'switcharoo' (hitting the hoop as it comes around to change directions - got that name from Miss Saturn), hooping on the hips, basic halo and arm hooping, putting both arms in while hooping, a little knee hooping and lots of foot work with the hoop. Everyone did really well and I think I may have…

Today I'm teaching a beginner hoop fitness class at the gym where I work. I am sooo excited! I'm going to mix in a little yoga and pilates and hope to teach a few people the basics while having a lot of fun! I will update how my first class went soon. I can't believe this is already happening - I've only been hooping for 5 months!

Helloow lovely hoopers, this is my first journal entry, and thought I'd write a bit on where i am on my hoop journey!
I'm a newbie here so in case you want to know, here's a bit about me: I started hooping about 6 weeks ago after stumbling accross hooping on youtube whilst looking for videos on poi (which my sister likes to do). And i thought 'oooooooh that i amaaaazing' and i HAD to make a hoop! So my first hoop was born and that was it.
I'm studying at university and have…

I've been hooping since February 18, 2009. I started with figuring out my 'in and out' flows and watching the hoopgirl video late at night after Kavi went to sleep. It was hard to find a place to hoop and I figured out fast that my first hoop from hoopgirl was small and heavy - which made for some interesting bruises. But I kept on throughout my trip and took 3 classes at tastyhoops which got me going on taking the hoop up and down from my waist, off body moves and isolations.

So I can start to smash the furniture soon^^ or maybe it would be better to simply hide in the basement and lock myself up in an empty room down there ;)
I thought about making a hoop myself but I think I would have injured myself very very seriously...like cutting my thumbs off or something..or wrapping up the poor cat in tape by accident.
If I find my webcam, I'll try to use it to make a few little videos and entertain you with my clumsiness, but I'm…

Hi everyone. I am so excited at how many wonderful people are in this community, commenting on my videos and genuinly being great friends. I love it! In preparation for Summer Camp Festival (less than two weeks!) I have been trying to learn some stuff..flow better..etc..I hope that I am improving! The reason I am tryign to improve before then is I have convinced myself I'm "good" enough to own an LED hoop..it's sort of a big investment when you're BROKE like me. I'm very excited though! It'll…

--Nine Inch Nails' "Down In It" is stuck in my head--
--I downloaded both of the Pretty Lights albums
. Great hooping music; can't wait to see PL at Bonnaroo!
--Today's hooping practice was brought to you by the letter 'M,' for MUD. It didn't rain today so I went to the park with Lance so he could run the trail and I could hoop. The ground was rather squishy and now my MJ crocs and Krakken hoop are rather dirty. But I had fun…

As I loaded the groceries into the back seat, I glanced up and noticed a note tucked under the windshield wipers. It read, "Noticed your hoop. I'm a hooper too. Call me so we can hoop it up!" I started jumping up and down right there in the parking lot. When I called the mysterious hooper, it turned out to be a gal I went to school with. We're going to meet up next week to jam in the park. I'm so friggin' excited I could pop! Yippee!
In the 10 minutes we spoke, I realized two…

Trying to sit in the sun as I type so my legs can get some color, seriously. i know it is bad but I LOVE how my skin feels tan. I feel gross to myself in the winter all white.
Anyways I just got done hooping for an hour and a half! Longest flight time in a while, damn rain
I start with seeing how I could do a sun salutation in yoga with he hoop. Worked out perfectly. Waist hooped in prayer then to lasso with a backward bend then to take a bow, lowering and switching hands till…

So over the last few months, I have been helping my old hoop instructor with with several gigs: birthday party's, open air events, etc. And as I become more integrated into her business, I have been struggling with idea of making sure I maintained my own identity as a hooper. So I felt it was really important that I establish my own name as a hooper, through which I could draw my costume, makeup, and style choices. This became especially important when she started offering solo gigs which she…

My classes continue to grow and I have added a 3rd class!
Also, its now official....I am a Certified Hoop Dance Instructor! Yay! I just completed my teacher training with Hoopnotica! It was soo great! I learned alot....
Classes are doing really well, and the studio only fits 8 people at once, and i end up with a long drop-in list of students, some of which never get to come to class due to the lack of space. SO, i am…

Ah, the joys of working in a nursing home. If the supervisors and charge nurses aren't making you nuts (and some of the co-workers too; believe it or not, the patients are easier to get along with than all of the above), then you just might have the chance to twist, crash and slide on a wet floor because the janitor didn't put the "Wet Floor" sign where you could actually SEE it. So while I'm dealing with a cranky back, I've been trying to figure out what I can do with a hoop right now. Waist…
