"Raw energy is created from a combination of the first and second chakras' attributes of matter and movement. The expression of that energy as action is motivated
by survival and pleasure, the instinctual forces that combine to create our
ascending liberating current.
Transforming the instinctual impulses into willed activity is made possible by
the descent of consciousness, which gives form…

So the other day I had "a moment" hahah.
It was amazing, I was hooping at the beach for about three hours or so. I had a man with his beach chair walk past me and like many do, say " I have no idea how you're doing that". I laughed it off and said "lots of practice" like I usually do. Then I realized, I had NO IDEA what I was doing either! Or how I was doing it. My mind had been completely removed for the past three hours. I know I have been in this state many times before…

So I was sitting at Hoop Convergence opening circle and I realized I was sitting next to Spiral, Shakti, and Miss Rosie to my right and to my left was Jewels, Caroleena, Stefan and OMG! Inspiration! As someone had shared in this circle, our hoop community in‘3-D’. I felt the flow of this amazing circle. I was so honored to have been surrounded by over 140 hoopers ready to geek out all weekend. So let me start from the beginning of my journey.
A few hours earlier, I found myself hooping…

Had a great time today hooping with a drum circle in the park - bliss! just breathing in the rhythm and letting whatever happen, happen -- meditative and wonderful -- looking forward to their next one. I didn't invite any friends, I was happy being by myself and with the other hoopers who frequent it, but I will next time. Sometimes just don't want to be responsible for making sure they're having a good time -- but how could you miss? Perfect weather, happy times!

My parents dug through their mass of tools and found the tools I need for hoop making; pipe cutters, pop rivet gun, and a small hand drill. So now all I need are the raw materials!
Locally I have a Home Depot for irrigation tubing. I'm looking at $28.50 for 100ft of 3/4in 160psi tubing, not too bad. But I'm having a hard time finding decently priced, colorful tapes. I don't want to start off ordering tons of tape online. I need to keep cost down as I'm not wanting to sell…

I'm working getting a daily practice going in the mornings, before little ones wake up. I'm not going to lie--I LOVE sleep. I'm a sleepaholic. My natural body clock is up at 7:24 a.m., which is a few minutes before the girls start to stir. Hubby wakes up and is out the door by 6:20 a.m., so that's my new personal goal. I figure it will be cool enough outside still and I can maybe share a cup of joe with my man.
They say it takes 30 days to form a habit. I'm starting on…

Am I insane? Or do I just want to share the fun with others?
Probably a bit of both...
Either way, I'm hosting my first hoop jam June 19. It's going to be an informal thing, from 10 a.m. to noon, at my church/practice space (info posted in the Events on the Home page). Khaanee has committed to join me, and I'm hoping some other folks will come get in on the fun too.
I'll have tunes, bottled water and some hoops for newcomers to use. I'm going to have an…

I can't believe it's almost 3 weeks since I found out the meaning of life: hooping. I haven't gone a day without hooping for at least an hour and I've been catching on a lot quicker then I thought. My parents think I should join the circus, and whenever they make a comment, I don't exactly think it's such a bad idea.
I started out with a beautiful 44" 160 psi hoop and learned waist hooping, the vortex, two handed isolations, waist to knee and knee to waist hooping, chest hooping, one…

I need a hoop hug when I get home from work today. I'm totally going to pick up my hoop, crank up some music, and lose myself in the hoop for at least 2 songs.
I did a lot of reading today and learned some pretty unsettling news.
It seems that soy is really not a good thing for me at all given the
). Its #1 on a list of 5 foods…

This is my first journal entry. I think it's an appropriate time to start writing entries. I've been hooping for about 2 years. Last night, I had so many breakthroughs. I got into an arguement with my boyfriend and was feeling pretty down. I put on some phish, grabbed my hoop and just got lost in it. All of a sudden, I was doing tricks that I've been trying to nail for about a year. They just started coming. I think because I was able to just let go and just feel it, everything came…

The moment I started spinning my new staff, I was amazed by the parallels to hooping. Weaves, the rising sun, passes, and spins all translated into mind boggling new patterns. I’m in love…all over again. I’m experiencing all the excitement and discovery as when I first started hooping, but this time around I have a foundation of flow techniques to build on. Yet the staff has its own flow and physics. I feel so much of my hoop-style being transformed into this new tribal-ninja dance. I’m in…

i started out with a cheap toys r us hoop. i honestly dont know how i did it for so long. i mastered waist hooping, sustained hooping, isolations, knee hooping, and neck hooping with it. im kind of amazed by myself. now i finally upgraded to a 38" hoop that i bought on hipster-hoops. and i absolutely love it. i never put it down, it goes to school with me, on walks to the park, to gatherings and festivals.…

I love it! There is no other fire gear out there that makes me feel as good as a fire hoop does. When I first lit up and had a spin I thought it would take me ages to get used to the flames all around me like that, but as soon as I got it going I was spinning without a care :D And a couple of days after my first burn I took the fire hoop to a festival and lit it up at the midnight fire jam and went crazy. Hardly anyone here has seen a fire hoop before, so it was quite amazing to the crowd. I…

So I have found that my hoop is a lot easier to work with now that it has been taped. I still can't get all the things I was hoping would magically become easy, but what fun would it be if they had?
I had gotten neck hooping and waist hooping before I taped it, but those are now easier. I did manage to chest hoop without my arms for a few rotations, I wish I had a camera to capture that. I also am getting better and less awkward on half turns in both directions, though I like going with the…
