30 Days of Hooping

Alrighty, today marks me owning a hula hoop for 30 days, an entire month. Due to work travel and general wacky home improvement events occurring, I didn't get to hoop every day, which makes me sad. On the other hand, when I did get time to hoop, I tried to carve out at LEAST half an hour, if not more, and practiced my patoot off.

I am happy to report that I have progressed from simply standing still & hooping, to being able to take 2 steps, turn 180, take 2 steps, turn 180,…

My first HDPE Hoops

I finally got my first hoops made with the high density polyethylene (HDPE) tubing I bought from McMaster-Carr (see Time for a minor rant... for more about that). Rather than tell you about the experience in writing, I figured I'd just tell you. So...

Hooping Down :(

I haven't been learning new stuff lately and its been upsetting me. I felt I was moving at a rapid pace and catching on good and I wanted to keep on going but lately...I don't have the desire to learn anything new. I still hoop everyday but I don't have the patience to sit there and practice a new trick over and over.

I think that it has to do with all the personal stuff thats been going on. I just had a lot of problems with my parents and sister and decided we didn't see eye to eye…

Last Day of Hoop Class

Well Hoopers,

I've defiantley been slacking on hoop city...but don't be alarmed, for actual HOOPING has kept me away. Recently my friend and I made more hoops, smaller ones made of polyethylene. All I can say is... LOVE IT! I've found it eaiser to flow between movements with the smaller hoop.

Tonight is my last hoop class, and I'm very excited and sad to end this first step in my hoop journey (special shout out to my amazing teacher Nina, you lit the hoop fire…

Advice Please!!!

I met with the head of the animation dept. yesterday afternoon. He said he wants to make a video of me in HD and in front of the green screen and then in the fall come hoop for his students so they can see in person how i move my body.

I gave him a cd of songs i put together the day before and we tried it out to see if I had enough room in the class. I like lots of room because when I get to movin I REALLY get to movin! But I managed with the limited space. Afterwards he was like…

over and out...

In the last 4 days I have; helped consume 14 kegs, got thrown around, played derby and had my ankle and knee completely messed - taking me out of the next game which would have been my last game in Calgary, submitted my very first resignation letter to work, got sunburnt, laughed, cried, saw Iron Maiden, lost my phone, found my phone, hooped my tush off and took some video of a passed out dude getting hit in the face with a blow up whale.... *blank stare*.

I need a…

Summer Jewel Collection

The Pixie Hoops team are excited to share our new summer hoop collection with our Hoop family! We thought we would take a moment to tell you a bit of the background story and inspiration that we drew on when creating this collection. We were inspired by jewels, by luscious rich vibrant colors and of course, SPARKLES! We wanted to create a summer collection that would inspire you to hoop in front of the sunset, to dance in the grass at festivals, to climb…

Pride

Deniper and I went to the Houston Pride Parade this past Saturday to hang out with our new hooper friends here in town. We had so much fun. I hung out watching the parade, got a ton of silly little beads, got to yell and see friends I havent' seen in a year or more. We hooped on the side lines of the parade, tucked away a little so as to have space and not hit anyone with our flying hoops.

We meet a newbie hooper girl, I didn't catch her name, but she was a really nice girl, and…

LED Hooping and enjoying the rain

Two nights ago, I taped my LED hoop with gaffers to see if it gave it any more weight. I'm used to my big heavy hoop, and I'm terrified of dropping my LED hoop (aka my baby) on the driveway. The gaffers worked perfectly-the hoop was heavier and had much more grip. I hooped for an hour, until my eyes were sore from all the flashing lights. I got applause, cheers, and a "AMAZING HULA HOOP" (screamed loud enough to wake the whole neighborhood up) when I was hooping....when I finally stopped…

mountain hooping

I've brought my twins to my parents mountain getaway home for their community day camp. I'm excited to have them in camp for a few hours the next few days and I can get in some serious hoop time. I'm currently working on perfecting leg hooping and twins. I'm also working on workshop material for our big event Aug. 21st in downtown Dallas.

The beauty of the mountians is so inspiring, evenings cool and you can almost taste the green in the air. Carolina mountain happiness!

I haven't been able to hoop nearly as much as I would like to for a while now, but I'm still improving little by little each time. I can keep the hoop up a lot longer than I could when I started, and just have more control in general when it comes to waist hooping. My isolations are also becoming more and more steady with each practice session.

I am having trouble with chest hooping, however. I'm keeping the back and forth motion I've been told is necessary for hooping at the chest but…

Positive Energy Creates Success!

I love to look at experienced hoopers performance. I am always is such awe of something so simple and yet so magical and beautiful. I love belly dancing because is celebrates the female form and all that is woman. I also see pregnant belly dancers and pregnant hoopers too! We as women are empowered to show our beauty and strength as we share with each other to create our bodies in a whole new way.

First we must see what we wish to create.…

just something i feel is relevent to comment on.

well I have noticed a slight few folks in the community having strong opinions on what others do, how they dress, and even in how they choose to present themselfs.

personally i feel that these opinons are certainly valid.

HOWEVER,

it is my personal opinon that one persons desicions are fine and good for that person we as a community should not allow ourselfs to slip down that slope of judging the actions and desicions of others.

it…
