My blog has a new address. Yes, I have my own freaking domain name. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! You can now find me at www.hooplove.org and you can just call my blog, Hoop Love or Whole Lot of Hoop Love. I know Whole Lot of Hoop Love is a mouthful. The name came from a conversation with three different people but it was Shekinah that really helped me choose hooplove.whatever. Since I was paid today and had some extra cash, I got the domain name. I…

Okay, so anyone who read my last blog heard all about my shoulder hooping troubles.
I nailed it! But only once.
I guess that's just my small triumph for the week. I haven't done it since, but I have a bathroom that's like full of mirrors, so I was thinking of practicing in front of that.
I guess maybe sometimes you just have to stop thinking about the big picture. Since when is hooping about impressing people anyway? Even though, let's face…

Two weeks ago I received a set of lovely 20” LED mini hoops from the amazing hoop creators at MoodHoops.com. I’ve been a long-time fan of their wares and was beyond excited to learn when they began offering LED minis. Since receiving them, I’ve fallen so madly in love with these hoops that I felt the need to share my thoughts on them with the masses :-).
A pretty amazing feature on the …
Okay. This is my first post in here, and I really don't do a daily journal or anything on my own, but this journal worthy.
As of June 18th, I have been hooping for one year, and it has been the best year of my life. I lost 30 pounds and I have been just all around way happier. I went outside more, I ate healthier, and I found exercise that I love outside the hoop. It's just been an all around good year. The night before my birthday and hoopiversary(June 17th)(yes, I did…
After the tests the Dr. had me come back in and we discussed that I have hypothyroidism and my insulin is really high. I'm now on medication for those and I have started a diet and exercise program with my husband. I have lost about 15lbs already =D.
Once I loose 5 more lbs I'm going to post a pic =D.

Yes, I realize I am plus size but that doesn't always mean I'm dying to lose weight.
I was asked last night, "how much weight have you lost with this hooping thing?"
I answered truthfully, "no."
They replied, "I thought hooping was the perfect exercise."
Yeah, I'm sure it is when you don't eat like a pig. I will admit that I am eating out way too much. Right now I do not even want to think about losing weight. I preempted the conversation by…
Kentucky is hosting a camp for flow arts in August. I'm so stoked but there is so much that I want to do! I don't know how I'll manage it all. If you haven't heard of it, check it out. It's only $80 and camping!
I am getting more and more excited about Flow Camp. There are so many classes that I want to take and I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to take them all. My primary focus would be hooping but there are so many…

The past four days have been something of a hulahoop-whirlwind. I got to spend this amazing weekend with an old friend (teh hooping-badass KymSpins), who used to hoop with me back in undergrad. It was wonderful getting to catch up and also kind of surreal to find what hooping has become for the both of us after three and a half years of flight time.
The weekend workshops were led by …
Where to begin? If I'd known how fascinating the journey to find physical balance would be, I'd have started this journal years ago.
I had the talotarsal dislocation corrected on my right foot on June 16th. It still hurts to put weight on it and I'm still using a walker, but the changes are phenomenal. I can stand on both feet and my right side…

It's funny how learning one simple thing can just blow your mind.
For example, I've been trying to learn shoulder hooping. I've been trying all the tips I've read about, all the techniques, all the tutorial videos... my friend even made one for me. But each time I duck my head out, it just flies away... it's like my shoulder simply doesn't want to grab it. All I end up with are bruises and frustration.
I'm also trying to learn it soon because I'm going to get my wisdom teeth…
I'm applying for a TV show this summer. It's called "CBBC Magic Show" for kids aged 10-15 (I'm 14). I'm going to be hula hooping, and I have to film an audition tape for them to see if I'm good enough to appear on the show. I've learnt so many tricks, and have had lots of great feedback for my routines.
I'm not sure about what to do to sort of "Wow" them.. so they'd let me on. Like, what sort of tricks should I do/learn to include in my video? Should I do…
I just read an interesting article online called "5 Benefits of Interval Training." It suggests that alternating quick, intense bursts of activity with longer periods of lighter exercise will benefit both your workout and your health.
Here's my thought: interval training for hoopers. All we have to do is program…
I had put together a little collection of videos from my hoop journey of the last 2 years and posted it today. I look back at how far I have come. i don't know alot of tricks but i have rythym and best of all, I see how much fun I had just being silly and playing with my hoops. I think that is the best part of all of this is that hooping is FUN! I try so much to impart that to people who ask me about hooping. I think they just see it as the hoop just going in circles around their body and…
I just wanted to outline what happened to me recently so that I can reiterate to everyone the importance of stretching before hooping! I do a lot of poi hooping in particular, and I am always trying out new moves that put strain on the muscles in my neck, back, and shoulders.
I had a pain that ran between my neck to a space between my shoulder blade and my spine. At first, it just manifested itself as a pain when I turned my head to the left. It happened twice before, and I…
I can't believe this is my first journal entry! I should really be blogging about my hooping en devours, its so much fun. Nothing focuses on the individual as much as blogging, hmm?
Anyway, I made a hula hoop group on Facebook and I'm so happy about it. I created it about a week ago. We are currently 90 members strong! About half of the group is regularly active, the other half I believe ( or hope ) at least checks in. I'm just so happy that it's blossoming so quickly. People…
Life has been...busy. Days off from my internship in PA have been scarce, and hooping has fallen to the wayside out of pure necessity. It adds to the inconvenience that I don't have internet there to watch hoop tutorials, either. Tomorrow being a day off, and being home, I think I'm going to dedicate a huge chunk of day to working on EVERYTHING; from flow, to isolation, to floor hooping, etc.
I would really like to start making progress with my hoop journey again...I feel…

72 days in the hospital and I came home last Saturday, one week home now. Oh how sweet it is....My first thoughts go out to everyone who sent me well wishes and prayers and healing energy. it was a rough ride, but I have been so blessed to be given a second chance. Most of all a special hugs and love to Traci"Circular Praise", my hoop sista who came and visited me and took the time to write my story and keep me updated. I so loved reading all the well wishes every evening with Murphy. I am…
