Too Much Work

Two jobs, so I can save for Motion Notion and Shambhala.  Is it worth it?  After the third half night of sleep, and both the jobs are shitty, I feel like I could lay down in the street and die.  I haven't had time to pick up a hoop for more than ten minutes in almost a week.  It's all very depressing.  By the time my vacation finally comes, I will have worn myself to bloody nubs and likely forgotten how to hoop.  The stupidest part is, I'm still broke!  My husband is only working part time. …

What I'm stuck on today

Because of a busy-ness, I haven't hooped in 2 days.  Tonight is gym night, which is my Zumba class and afterwards, I spend 30 minutes hooping.

Because I can. Well, that and my spouse has a 2 hour workout and I can't sit in the sauna for 30 minutes.

There are two downsides to the gym nite hooping: 1) I have to hoop in the spinning room, which has about as much hooping space as my living room, so I basically spend that time working on the trouble spots. 2) my gym nite workout…

Hooping Newbie

I have a desk job and sedate hobbies (knitting, sewing, spinning yarn, movies) so I shouldn't have been too surprized when Middle Age snuck up on me.  I've struggled with my weight for the past few years but I also have to deal with my increasing knee problems.  I have osteoarthritis in both knees, which has made ramping up my cardio a challenge.

I've been doing a combination of walking and pilates, and the Zumba class at my gym but not getting the results I wanted.  I have…

Waist to chest without arms-- an epiphany!

As soon as I barely was able to chest hoop-- shakily, while turning-- I wanted to bring the hoop from waist to chest without utilizing my arms. You know, to just shimmy it up there. I could not do it to save my life! After trying off and on for many months, I decided that this was something that my body just wasn't going to do, and stopped trying.

I did continue, however, to work on chest hooping, to the point where I am very comfortable with it and can do it nicely without…

Thoughts of a Busy Hooper

Still hooping almost every day but what do you do when life gets so hectic, you rarely have a spare minute to yourself?  With two jobs and two dogs and a husband, my life seems very full.  I'm slightly weirded out because I'm finally in a position where I could have children if I wanted to.  A new home that's so tastefully appointed, I sometimes look around and wonder whose house I'm in.  My hoop studio is all set up with surround sound and wall to wall mirrors.  It's so nice to have an…

New hoop heights

I'm so excited to be part of history in the making with the lovely talented ladies of SF's Opulent Temple and the newly-formed dance team, OT Devotees! Looking forward to our performances, and feeling incredibly grateful for my hoop's positive gravitational force & the wonderful opportunities it's brought me.

Obsessively digitally recording hooping and how my experience may help you to create a video to be proud to share

In my experience, there are 2 constant factors necessary to create an awesome hooping video.  Your opinion on the outcome is the only opinion that really counts! Who else can appreciate how smooth you made that isolation look as compared to ur previous attempts - when you finally nail that 3 beat weave and you caught it on video, no one except you can get that feeling of pride and joy and confidence from understanding all you put into it and finally getting it!!!) Dont get me wrong all…

:) going with my dad & stepmom for a month up to Canada... bringing my hoops with me to practice in a new setting. maybe get to meet some hoopers or find inspiration :D. can't wait to go, haven't seen my dad in a while and on top of that him and norma (my stepmom) really support me on my hoop path while my mom and stepdad dont... so it will be well worth it. even if i wont see my kitty ♥ for a while.

Growing with the Hoop!

Today has definitely represented a new path that my hoop life is taking on :) I'm putting myself out there and meeting new people who I have a lot in common with. Today I hooped with some awesome people who had some really good vibes going. One girl even gave me 3 hoops! For freee!! I've also gotten to the point where I need to see every video, every event, anything related to hooping and you have my attention. Fair to say obsession? Ha - I've even been on HoopCity everyday at work chatting.…

I've been hooping sporadically for one month now. Waist hooping is now something I do without thinking. I suck at transitions, but I'm slowly getting the hang of going from waist to halo. can't get it back down. BAH!!!!

A small Problem...

I've been hooping for about a week now... And my tummy/back get really sore! I can only hoop around my waist for a couple of minutes, then I have to take a break and do weaves or something. I'm sure this is a common problem for beginners, but it still sucks :p

If anyone has advice or other tricks I can do until my muscles are trained properly, that would be awesome! I want to spend whole afternoons hooping, not just 20-30 minutes at a time with 10-15 minute breaks :(…

Playing with my "hooping moves I know" -cards :)

As so many hoopers before me, I have been feeling a bit stuck in my moving. After that magical day of finding my flow I have enjoyed hoop dancing sooo much more. But now I feel like I'm repeating the same movements and combos every time I dance with my hoop. So yesterday I decided to try my hooping moves -cards. I picked up three cards for every song and experienced in putting them together. Some threesomes worked better than others but I definately learned some new ways to move on:))) I think…
