I have spent entirely too much time reading through the 'Hoop Making' discussions this morning and all I can say is WOW!! You ladies (and gents) have made some amazing things! I am so inspired by all of you. All I want to do right now is run out to the craft/fabric store and spend the next week sitting on my living room floor trying to figure out how to make fur covered hoops, fabric covered hoops, decourage paper (I still don't even know what it is!) coverd hoops, fabric ribbon hoops..... my…
I made a first hooping video after 5 weeks of hoop fun! Wanted to see how I look in my hoop. I was pretty embarrassed in front of camera. Didn't feel relaxed at all. And when I saw myself I wasn't so happy :) But it's very good that I made a movie of me hooping so I can see what mistakes I made. I look down to much, hands are attached to the body, ... Many things to repair. I can not perform in circus yet :))))
I also showed video to some friend and they say that I'm good. It feels good…
...so i am posting it so i can look back on these words...

What is your goal for 2009? (Doesn't have to be hooping related)
To provide compassionate and individualized care to all those that I am in contact with who are transitioning from this lifewalk to what comes next.
Why is this goal important to you and how will it improve your quality of life? This is less of a goal and more of a mission statement. I do this…
This entry is mostly to provide a reference point as to how far I have developed later on.
I have been hooping for almost 3 weeks now. I have attended 4 beginners classes. I started off with a Saturday group and did three sessions with them. I had been progressing well and felt like I had made a bunch of progress already. I walked into my first class not able to hoop at all, and now I can hoop in inflow and out, do breaks, paddling, off body passing, floating up and down (only in…
Ok its 1.36 am but I must just jot down that phase one went reasonably well, tested in garden as shown in latest vid. It is extremely light due to the materials, and it wasn't properly fixed as I realised when I increased the speed lol! All in all though I think this shows promise. Cost so far has come to around £8, at the most. Not bad for an LED hoop. Will keep updates of progress.
-Working on flow (which FINALLY seems to be coming together)...
-I figured out how to transition from the shoulder pop (the first part of the move) into vertical chest hooping which is super duper exciting since I've knocked myself in the face a few times trying :)
-Trying to get motivated to make some hoops, but it seems like all the tape I get from Identi-tape falls apart :\
-Thinking about making a hoop video but that's really on the bottom of my list…
Today has been a bust, it started all sunny, but by the time I was showered and ready, a great deluge had set in, and has remained for the whole day!
I recently had a plan. It may not be fantastic but I am going to try it. In Tesco there are some child size hoops, cheap and flimsy. I bought a couple of them to try some twin moves, since hoops aren't cheap and I can't find anywhere to get supplies to make em....plus the fact I have little time!
Well, the little hoops had…

I have to confess my hooping has become very very sporadic...VERY sporadic.
Which makes no sense considering it is summer and hooping outside is so much better than inside..
but summer also means i get to spend time in my shop doing art.. my shop is not heated so winter i don't get much welding in, so hooping in cramped spaces in the house in winter happens daily.
Between work, shop time, friends, looking for a house to buy, and packing up my current abundance of accumulated crap…
Sigh!
It's been raining for the last week and a half...drum circle was rained out and I've had only a few, short opportunities to get out to play with Jade-my sweet daughter- and hoop in the park. (My living room is no longer sufficient enough space to hoop as I've been learning new tricks.) I should really stop my whining and look on the bright side!
On a more positive note, the last week and a half of rain has given me plenty of time to work on and finish my "What hooping means to…
On Friday I made it out to the Calgary Folk Fest. What an amazing day. Great people, great food, great weather, great music. I hooped to Esthero, and Arrested Development. I actually only hooped to one song during Arrested Development's set, Mr. Wendal. The rest of the time I was right in the thick of things, dancing and jumping with the crowd. They performed a cover of Redemption Song, which was amazing, and basically pure magic.

Please join us in the celebration of World Hoop Day on September 9, 2009. The STL Hoop Club has joined forces with LED Heady Hoops and will be hosting a special event at the Koken Art Factory. Part of the proceeds will be going to supply under privelaged city children with hula hoops.
Since 2006, World Hoop Day has been dedicated to bringing dance, exercise and toy hoops to under-privileged children living in…
So I went to Roller Derby in Eugene, Oregon for the first time this last weekend! Oh boi am I inspired! Yes, I want to put on roller skates, wear a bad ass outfit, but no, I don't want to play, I want to HOOP!!! How fun would that be to be the part time performers, hooping in skates!? Yesss!! I'm in! I've already come up with a derby name too:
Bliss Behavin'!
It's so perfect for me *le sigh* Blissssss.....
Today was a scorcher, but Lauren Rose and I decided to try it out…
((I originally wrote this for my "what hooping means to me" video, but my camera man is on strike and work is gobbling up my soul, so I'm just going to cut my losses and post as a journal entry))
I imagine the hoop as a window or a door used to jump, roll, skip, and duck into new worlds of motion and grace. Like a cosmic juggler, I whirl reality across my body, tumbling in and out of the sacred circle. Inside the hoop mind, gesture, and possibility are swirled together until they’re…
Ok so I recently started using small, light tubing (125psi/1.5in) and loving it. And I've been looking forward to the days of multi-hooping for well... since prob a little after I started hooing last year! :-) So I made myself a set of hoops for multi hooping. They are purtty and make me happy. But I haven't been able to do anything with them for a while... except maybe hooping all 3 at once on my waist or hooping with one and then holding the other in my hand. Even that was hard at first!!…
I don't know how to do this, I haven't really written a journal before but I want to put something here so there we are.
I thought it was a good idea to say something about where I am at hooping wise. I have been hooping on and off for about 2 years or maybe more, but not consistently, and the speed of my progress (or lack thereof) indicates this. However, recently I have been hooping daily, having finished work for the summer, and have started to become much more in tune with the…

so this weekend on saturday we had a hoop making party. not as many people as who expressed interest could actually make it, but now that it's over, that's fine because it would have been soooo crowded at my place! not everyone could make it that day, but we'll do it again, or people can get int ouch and we can set up something. so many nice hoops were made!
afterwards we went over to boulderfest at boulder coffee around the corner. boulder coffee is really nice, and they have a…

7 hours, 3 Models, 7 Different Sets of Shots, Body Paint, The Messiest Kitchen You Have Ever Seen, Pigment Flying Through The Air, Strangers Watching Us Through the Window. All resulting in one of the greatest, most inspiring and laughter fueled days I've had in a long, long time.
The same thing next weekend? Bring It On!

Hey everyone. I am new to this site (and almost everything to do with computers) as of today!
So basically I am unsure how this works or even if anyone will read it.
The point is i am from a small town in New Zealand and much to my disappointment after almost a year of looking I cannot find any other hoopers :(
I am almost 17 and in the middle of an important year exam-wise.
I guess the point I am trying to make is any other hoopers from New Zealand I would love to hear from…
Today was a good day....out of the blue and after LOTS of frustration.....I got the kick start and knee hooping...consistently. It had a lot to do with the fact that we actually had sun today. I was able to go to the beach and practice in my bathing suit. Skin= Success! The best part was the true test of coming home and.....Ta Da I could still do it in Jeans. Yes Today was a good day for hooping! I even did a little clog dancing while hooping......not easy lol. The quick stacatto movements of…
