Sooo I was forced to stop hooping for more or less a month solid because of outage work, and now that I'm restarting I've been led to a series of realizations. Much like when I was pushing harder at poi, I think I'm simply trying to pick up trick after trick and never hammering out what I know.
I hoop left. I can waist hoop, transfer from waist to neck, neck hoop, shoulder hoop (sort of), go waist to lasso, lasso to waist, vortex, waist to lasso to jump in, and god knows only what…
I just so happened to come across this website today and I am in love. I didn't realize there were so many people who loved hooping so much. i was introduced to hooping by a good friend of mine in the summer of 2007. All summer me and a few of my friends would go outside, put some good music on and let loose. I have been learning tricks from online sites but mostly my friends and I just mess around and try to make up new tricks. The past 6 months I haven't had much time to hoop but just…

Hey--I work at fright fest...and I was sent home early because "my character was too intense" MEANING that I scared people and so they were pissed...and I angered them because I scared them...wow...really?? if You DONT want to be SCARED...GO home....
It baffles me that this happend...because this one guy right before I was taken to the back and told to leave....said to me that I was doing a REALLY good job...wow good job six flags...
I'm about 2 months into hooping and have never felt so alive! I LOVE that I have found something to place all my passion into! ...My first and primary goal is more personal and spiritual and is connected to my Flow. I seem stuck to have been stuck my entire life on critique/opinion/acceptance...and a strange transcendence is occurring now...I am learning/believing...realizing that the Flow...well...it just IS...you can't hunt it down (you can try)...but the Flow and your…
Had a short (8 minute) practice today...it was much better than yesterday. I shot some video as kind of a progress check (it is my one month mark....yay!) and was happy with the results. I am especially happy that I can now lasso down to my knees...although I can't keep the hoop above my knee...it always drops below, but I can hold it there. I discovered this on accident while filming my latest video...lol if you watch it I get pretty excited. Now if only I could learn to pick it up from…

I start school on Monday, and I am very nervous. I will be out on the clinic floor, cutting peoples hair in 4 weeks! *dies*
Very excited though :3
Also.. I decided that I am going to make myself a new, larger diameter hoop. My current hoop is around 39, and weighs about 1 and a half pounds. So belly button height.
I am going to make one that is more near sterum hight, but not filled with water. I want to make it as light as possible, so I am just going to do a…
I just wanted to let everyone know about the Free hooping tutorial site I just put together :)
There are tons and tons of free hooping tutorials available online, but sometimes it's kind of a pain in the butt trying to organize it all. I am very new to hooping myself, but have absolutely fallen in love with it and am constantly looking for new tricks and ideas to practice. I started by searching YouTube for tutorials, which has helped me immensely! But because…
Went to a park about 2 mins from my house an decided to practice there today. There was no one there, but across the street there was an elementary school with kids at recess. Didn't bother me too much, though. My goal today; work on flow. I guess today is kind of an off day for that....see, it has been a few days since I have done any hoop (stupid work) and I found myself tired easily and quite dehydrated. I took water breaks and other breaks, but I just couldn't hit anything like I normally…
I'm going to a costume party with the hubble tonight. We're going as Zombie Lovers, so last night we did our research and watched Dawn of the Dead and then Shaun of the Dead to study how we were going to move and how I am going to do make up. Unfortunately, we didn't decide what we'd be in time to order coloured contacts to complete the look.
Lucie Das Cupcakke is going as a pumpkin when we take the littluns (Nic's kid-scuzins) trick-or-treating. It's going to be really fun spending our…

I went to the weekly hoop jam tonight, and there was a guy with FIRE POI. AND HE LET ME PLAY WITH THEM!! First he taught me a bit with regular poi (and I showed him what I've learned in my three weeks of levisticking), but as the night went on, he mentioned that he just happened to have all his fire stuff with him. There weren't any police around (we're not sure we were supposed to be spinning fire there), so he lit up for a bit and we got to spin!
It was so warm, like a spinning…

I was diagnosed with MD when I was about 15. The form I was diagnossed with is called Charcot Maarie Tooth Disorder (CMT). It is a form of MD where the mylan coating around your nerves and your muscles deteriorate over time. Having CMT means I can't build muscle and my nerves aren't very receptive. I can't run or jump. I can jump about as high as you could if you didn't bend your knees first; and that's with using all of my force lol. I struggled through every activity I ever took on. I always…
It's getting colder and that's when I decide to finally go out to hoop.
We do have a big living room but it is although packed with sooo many things + my little son (1 1/2) running from a to b... I can hoop but I do stop a lot in motion and do everything so 'next to the body' and slowly (Yes the tv is very big and expensive and I know so who would kill me if my hoop drops off and on it gulps).
I wanted to show a friend what you can do with a hoop and since we were two we went in the…

my hoop stays at my side no matter where i go.
she stares at me when im not using her to wonder why shes not in my hand.
my hoop, you are my world,
the one thing that makes me truely happy.
picks me up when i am down.
even when i fail,
you are ready to try again with me.
helping me improve to become better.
but its not about that,
its about the world we go in when we are together.
we are alone,
safe from other peoples harsh…
Hello! My name is Lekecia and I have just started hooping. I found about hoop dance by accident, and I am so happy that it did. A friend recently introduced me to Dubstep music a few months ago and I have been addicted to it ever since. While looking around for dubstep music bideos on youtube, I started seeing alot of videos of girls with hula hoops, after watching a few, I was amazed at how awesome they were. All the people I have seen hoop dance were so talented and all looked like they were…
It's cold outside, Hoop. It snowed yesterday and hooping in a jacket and mittens is really hard. I'm so sorry that I haven't picked you up in a while, but maybe I can convince Mum to let me move the dining table to make some space. I'm very frustrated, right now. School is hard and I have found that I have grown to resent other high schoolers. They're mean, Hula Hoop, and every morning, waking up is the nightmare. I long for the bliss of isolations and manipulations. I long for you, Hoop. You…

Well I finally did it, ordered my very first LED hoop from lighted lifestyle. I searched and read and compared every hoop out there and have heard nothing but good things about Kurt's hoops. Best part is he is located super close to me! I'm going to find it hard not to be anxiously counting the days, but for now I must be patient :) Can't wait to get it and let everyone know how amazing it is!
On another note, the weather is finally starting to chill here, which makes me pretty sad.…
The sound of flames rushing through the air is totally different when you're at the center of the flame. I was used to how noisy spinning fire is from watching friends play with poi or contact staffs, but that didn't prepare me for when I lit up my QuickWicks for the first time on burn(barrel) night at Myschievia. Utterly amazing being the one to control that rushing & whooshing.
I actually hadn't planned on burning my hoop Saturday—fire hooping for the first time was going to be…
