I was perusing random Youtube videos the other day when I started to notice a horrible pattern.
The video I was watching featuring a young girl wearing neon-green ravey leg-fluffy things, short shorts, and a crop-top. She was rocking out with her hoop in a garage. I couldn’t help but notice that in the comment section, there was an inordinate amount of drama going on.
Whatever happened to “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say it at all”?
For every positive comment…

The day before yesterday I was unfortunately unable to keep my promise to myself to practice every day. I was just so drained from working all day and driving my sister around western MA that I just crashed when I finally got home. Yesterday, however, I finally got around to doing something I have been meaning to do for years: start working with minis and work on more off body tricks. I bought the smallest/lightest and cheapest hula hoop I could find at Wal-Mart (which I kind of feel…

I first became aware of hooping a little over a year ago. I would like to go to raves in Winnipeg where I lived, and there were often girls with LED hoops there. I thought of it as more of a performance thing, but soon came to realize people use normal hoops a lot of the time too. When I was at an outdoor music festival one day I bought a hoop for $20 and thought hopefully I would get into it.
It's a year later now and I've learned a lot :) hooping is the funnest thing…

I'm bringing in my hoop's 1 month (or shall I say my 1 month hoop-anniversary) the way it should be--with a great friend having an awesome hoop session. Who cares that it is 5 in the a.m.? Not us. haha. Good times, good times :)
As my 1st journal entry, I wanted to point out the beauty of making mistakes while hooping. Although it can be frustrating, it's one of the many things I love about hooping. I usually get frustrated really easy when I can't get…
I am thinking about attending Hoop Camp 2013. I think this will be the only year I can swing it financially, but I am concerned that it won't be worth the expense. I can't drive that far (to Cali from MN) alone and so the plane tickets would add to the camp ticket amount. Anyone who has attended or is thinking about attending or not, would you please help and give me some advice or reasoning as to why you are or are not going?
I wasn't going to use this hoop journal, as I thought it was cheesy, but after watching today's recordings of myself, I just HAD to.
I've only recorded myself one other time, and it was maybe three weeks after starting hooping. [Significant Other's Name Redacted] filmed it for me, and I felt really awkward having him watch me and I kept thinking how stupid I looked.
Yesterday I had an AWESOME morning hooping before work, so I thought why not try it again today?…

Sparkly patterns and polka dotted tracers are constantly invading my mind space. My 36" luna hoop just isn't doing it for me anymore. I have a serious case of smart hoop envy. I've been trying to hold off as long as I possibly can, especially since I'm not even nearing my one year hoopiversary, AND the high probability that I will really start to enjoy hooping a 34" vs a 36". I've also grown to really like the polypro that I was so quick to dismiss. The HDPE hoop feels like it's filled…

I have recently been blogging about the art of making dances. It's something I've been studying for the last couple of years. I have quite a few blog posts that might help other hoopers put together sensational dancers. Here are some links:
