Dave Matthews- so damn lucky

I cannot even begin to explain how much these lyrics, and this song mean to me...

the lyrics... the beat the rhythm.. everything in this song.. is perfect.. for me... and if I slowly pick apart all of the words, and meanings and the way he says it... this song explains my life this year.

I am so thankful for all of the love and support from everyone I know, and even people I don't know who have given words of encouragement, and made this past year worth living..

There were A…

Hooping when the heart hurts..

This week(/year) I have been overwhelmed. With sadness and grief and guilt for loved ones who have left this world. With gratitude and love for the hoop and all of the beautiful hoopers and people that have been showing me so much support and kind words. With stress and worry because of my current financial and living situation. All of these factors have been driving me to hoop for hours and hours a day, like the first few months when I had first fallen in…

Shadow dancing and Raccoon Magic

So, I picked up my hoops in the darkness of my new backyard last night. There was a pause in the midst of the thunderstorm and the flood light lit up my hoop shadow in such a nice way that I could see my dancing perfectly.

I began to break free of patterns while dancing with my shadow with no music and could feel myself tell a story with my hoop dance. It came from deep within me and it made me move in ways I haven't before with my hoop.

It felt good.

Then, out of the…

6 Months - A look back

About 6 months ago I began hooping.  I was instantly addicted. Over the last 6 months I've had lots of ups and downs.  When I started out hooping was the only thing I felt a passion for.  My dance classes were not giving me the fulfillment that they once did.  But thankfully I found hooping and the void that dance left me was now filled.  I wish I could say that things got instantly better after I found hooping but unfortunately that wasn't the case.  I was still dealing with depression and…

One of those days.

*sigh*  I'm gonna try and keep this short, I don't wanna spread all the negativity.   Between the weather and work my mood is less than steller.  And off the beaten path...steller is an amazing, fun, and interesting word.  I want to use it more often!  (^_^)  Gah!  That right there is my problem!  No focus!  I sit down to de-stress and what do I do?  Follow the circles in my head.  Someday someone somewhere is going to come out with a devise to read minds, and they will be amazed by…

Good Day Gone Bad

I set out on a new Assemblage project that seems to be taking on a life of it's one. I was outside working today for five hours straight and feeling awesome as I collected dead branches, planks, cinder blocks, bones, glass jars and tools. What brought this little escapade to an abrupt end was when I stepped on 1/2 an inch worth of shiny silver nail. I can now barely walk. And by that I mean I hop around on one foot and a cane. My life sucks right now. I don't know what's going to happen…

Mandatory Fire

I'm moving to Seattle in 2 weeks. The 17th. I'm taking a backpack, a bag, and a few hoops. Flying Southwest, free baggage check... one of the last airlines to offer that for domestic flights, ridiculous. Preparing to move has been stressful, I find that all I want to do is hoop and spin some fire. It grounds me, it centers me, makes me feel alive and in harmony with all that is. I'm one of those people that devotes the majority of my energy to others, which is why Seattle is the plan.... I…

My one year hooping anniversary...what a ride!

So, I'm a few weeks away from my first accidental hoop day. I planned to have tea with a friend and she double booked herself by accident. "Why don't you come with me to my class instead?" Little did I know it would change my life so dramatically. Yes, it was a hoop class. I'm always up for a new challenge and I love to dance so i said "Why not?"

I was instantly hooked. The class was already half through it's session but I joined in anyway thinking I could catch up what I had missed.…

pushing forward

This has been a blessed, challenging, and fruitful year. Looking back, I've learned a lot about my strengths, weaknesses, and short comings. This new year I'm adopting a "saving" philosophy and practicing mindfulness. I will connect on a deeper level with my spouse, children, family and peers. I will push myself forward, break through personal barriers, and reach for breakthroughs. I will remind myself to be the change I want to see in the world and shine on.

i find it funny

i wrote a blog/discussion about a week ago about my self esteem and i thought i'd just post something humorous thats related. there's two men at my bank who come in and make me feel like i'm a goddess or something. not that i actually feel beautiful when they compliment me but the way they act. i hope that makes sense cause i explained the two men to my boyfriend and i didn't want him thinking these men made me feel beautiful and he didn;t. AHH, rambling. anyway, my point is one comes in…

Life statements that help me being happy and fullfill myself :)

There are much more I guess but I like these ones pretty much:

*You get what you give, so be generous.

*Others can only love you as much as you love yourself.

*You need to take care of yourself before you can take care of others!

*No matter how much you think you know you will never know everything. Don't judge.

*Practice kindness in everything you do.

*Life is an unpredictable journey. You know where it will end but how you will get there is…

Hooping Changes Lives!

Hooping changes lives! I can attest to this because it has in fact changed mine.

3 years ago... I am not sure I knew myself or knew where I Was going in life. Even now I can't say I completely know myself but I have at least found a way to tap into a classroom for me.

Before hooping I was headed into a stressful career that I knew in my heart I didn't love. Before hooping I was headed nowhere fast.

I found the hoop in May of 2008 and have been completely hooked ever since. I…

how hooping changed everything

through trying to spin poi, and playing with various light toys, i met a girl when I was at CalArts who gave me the gift of hooping. She is a very good friend and I love her dearly, at that point in my life my friend had noticed that I was suffering from depression and wasn't taking care of myself due to my current emotional state and issues with my eating disorder. We used to hoop everyday and every once in a while she would teach me something new. I soon left calarts to go get well and get my…

Being Myself.

Over the last few months I haven't been feeling like myself. I've been in a slump and haven't really had the energy to hoop or do pretty much anything else.

This is me, My name is Sara and I will be 20 in less than 23 days. I have a wonderful Family and a terrific boyfriend, whom I am living with. Not to mention our kitten Meekoh (meek-oh) shes a little bundle of energy and is one strange little kitty. She is currently sleeping next to me and is the cutest thing…
