Hey hoopers! I'm having a little bit of a dilema. I use the studio at the YMCA to practice my hoop dance and the ladies there have taken a huge liking to it. (not suprisingly hehe) However, now they are asking me to do a hoop demo for their family night.

I love to share hooping with people and it sounds like a great idea but I'm sooo nervous about it. I haven't sat down with them yet to discuss the details of what they would want me to do....but I know some of you lovely ladies (and gentlemen) teach classes and I was wondering if you had any advice? I think it would be a half hour demo.

I'm really one of the least social people on the planet haha (which I would love to change but I don't know how) and I feel like I would run out of things to say at the demo which scares me to death.

Any advice would be helpful! Thanks a bunch!

That sounds like a great opportunity! I'm sure they would love it! I would just talk about the basics... and the TONS of benefits about it... how you got started hooping...show em a few tricks... there's no way they won't be impressed! Since it is family night, you might talk about how hooping connects generations... you are NEVER too old or young to hoop! I got my mom and 83 year old grandma hooping! It is an AWESOME family activity... (No sittin on the couch in silence!!! + it's excersise!) And if you are worrying about things to talk about... ask em if they have any questions! I do this alot during presentations, and they always come up with stuff I didn't even think about... Maybe bring some extra hoops for people to try out at the end?? GOOD LUCK! Just be yourself in the hoop and I know it will be AWESOME! Can't wait to hear how it goes!

Do it! I did a hoop dance demo for my public speaking class and it was so fun! (I have the video uploaded on my profile if you want to check it out) The good thing about hooping, is that if you run out of things to say you just hand the folks some hoops. You could block your time out. Talk a little. Let folks play. Then talk a little more or introduce another concept like turning or walking with the hop.
