Today I applied for enrollment at my local community college to start their Addictions Counseling program which I am super excited about :)

I already have a bachelor's, but I'm not too keen on grad school quite yet and I'm incredibly interested in chemical dependency treatment and all the upcoming (hopefully positive!) policy changes that are going to occur within this field thanks to Mr. O.

I am so excited to be starting this new chapter in my life, and continuing to move forward to my goal of having a job that shows my hard work not in how much money I made for the company, but in the lives of the clients I will be working with. For a long time now I have been a huge supporter of harm reduction policies (SIS and the like) and creating social support and rehab programs for non-violent drug offenders released from prison. Our current system here in the US for dealing with non-violent drug offenders isn't working (IMHO) and I'd like to be a part of the positive change that's coming.

All in all this program will probably take me a year and half to complete, then once that's done it'll be another year before I can sit for the state certification exam. It'll be a decent chunk of money and time, but I know this is what I'm supposed to be doing with my life :)

That's an awesome aspiration! Good energy to you, I just know you'll do well. I love hearing about folks who follow dreams they love and that so work to help the greater community. You rock. :)

That is fantastic! I have a friend who has been fighting a cocaine addiction and it is people who study these things that are helping her through it so I am really proud of you! :-D

RIGHT ON GIRL!!!

The system needs to be changed from the inside out and we, as we age will be the ones that will replace the old.

Age is just a measure of time, and I personally have over 50 years in to left to live and want ever day to count/matter/be beautiful and in the direction of my most positive path. AND WISH THE SAME FOR YOU!

Three years is not that much, but a lot can be done. HOOP IT UP, YO!

happy dance,

I really enjoy when people choose to make a conscious decision to improve their lives and make the changes they want to.

Well done!
