Last Saturday I went to see my favorite dj (Wackutt) at our local club.  In the summer they don't have the dancefloor open, they just make the dj play in the bar and the sound is all weak.  This has been a point of contention for me all summer.  In the winter the conditions are sublime for hooping to live, LOUD electronic music between the hours of 10 - 11:30 pm... empty dancefloor, plenty of excellent lighting and space.  Anyway, I just opened the curtains to the dancefloor they had closed (after asking permission) and hooped with my LED in there!  It wasn't loud enough but it was cool coz I could hoop and provide entertainment for my friends and I wasn't crowded by drunk people. 

After hooping a bunch, and believe me the music was really good, I had quite the social time with all these people I know coz it's a small town, and I talked to the new leader of the performance troupe I worked with earlier in the year, and guess what they got a $2,000 grant and are putting together a candlelight cabaret!  They are getting those incredibly talented Dusty Flowerpot people to come help with the acts.  What this most likely means for me is professional dance consultation, costume construction, and development of a several minute long hoop act.  This is happening in about three months.  Gasp!

Today my husband left for Shambhala and he is going to set up our camp.  How nice will that be, to show up on Thursday afternoon and not have to do any labor.  I have decided from my recent festival experience to TAKE IT EASY with the hooping and the dancing in addition to the partying on Thursday night.  There are a few artists I would like to see playing that night but I'm saving myself for the weekend.  Friday afternoon in particular is going to be amazing because I will be fresh and so excited to see djs and acts that I have seen before and love love loved.  Chali2na at the Rock Pit, Fort Knox Five at the beach and then Wackutt in the Village as the sun goes down.  Who knows what else will happen after that?  I'm freaking out because Shambhala is such an amazing place and I just know it's going to be a million times better than last year when I wasn't a hooper yet.  I hope to keep a journal while there.
